So that's it a watcher not a participant- my current cue cost me £50 in the late 1980s loved the game as soon as Ronnie retires the game will diminish ....

Game has never been bigger. It's just that the classic heartland of the game has shifted a little.

Snooker clubs or tables have disappeared in the UK - the league I joined had two divisions of 16 now it is down to one of 6 teams it had 14 teams when I packed in.
Social clubs , pubs couldn't afford the tables sadly .or even to stay open snooker tables are expensive high maintenance sadly ...

All the tables got shipped to China. That's where they all are. There's been a culture shift, her indoors doesn't exist anymore, so a few pints of an evening then home for your tea made then she washes up whilst you watch the news and salute the end of the evenings broadcasting with the national anthem is gone. Hearn will eventually sell his snooker franchise, and it'll move East permanently. Instead of snooker being working class it'll be like golf or polo, need to come from money to compete. 'tis the way of things.
