Turns out that was nonsense according to Campbell. Trabzonspor not Fenerbahce btw.

They hit a poor run of form and the chairman said something that roughly translated as Campbell would "eat the players". According to Campbell it was a Turkish phrase meaning to get angry and really get stuck into them. But that wasn't quite the sensational news story that a racist tirade was.

It's in the UndrTheCosh podcast where Campbell talks about it.

Ah fair enough, my apologies to Fenebache, a great bunch of lads.

In my defence despite having Google at my fingertips i instead chose to rely on my memory of an event which happened over 20 years ago.

Cenk hasn't had so much of a morsel of a player ffs.

First I've heard of that tbf. The other story was widely reported.

I was exactly the same until I listened to that podcast a while back. The British media just ran with the sensationalist story apparently and it's not like those of us reading had much else to go on regarding events in Turkey.
