Would bringing back Gana be good buisiness?

Hugely overrated. Apart from the period between January and the end of last season under Silva (where he was very good) he was never consistent. One good game then the next week he’s being waltzed around like he’s not there and can’t find a successful forward pass.

We’re far too sentimental. If it was a free transfer then maybe but there’s no way w should be paying money for him back.

Absolutely,
Sorry but people who don't rate him don't watch actual football...
15-20 mill at a push, get 3-4 years out of him allowing us to bring in some potential to grow around him

He is nearly 31 now and depends largely on fitness and athleticism.
A player I liked but not what we need at Everton given his age, transfer fee and wages.

We will not have an unlimited transfer budget so money will have to be spent carefully.

See I'd disagree there,
Yes he's got a great engine, but surely it's his reading of the game that allows him to break up play so effectively?
You don't lose that, ask Gareth barry

On 2 year contract with a possibility of a third?
Would be well worth it.
An instant upgrade back to where we were a couple of seasons ago.

He’s 30? Maybe for 15 mil. We don’t know what player valuations will be like in the future.
The biggest issue will be wages, I’m sure PSG pay him a sizeable chunk. We can’t match that, and we shouldn’t. We don’t know when his legs will give out, and we don’t want to be stuck with someone at age 35 on a 100k again.

Players rarely do as well with a club second time around (I know there are exceptions). Often they left for good reasons and the desire to play for the shirt second time just isn't there. Gana was great for us, but we should be looking for the next Gana not giving the original one a retirement contract.

The last thing I want to do is be critical of Gana who was great for us... and even allowed us to make a big profit on his transfer.

However, and this is a more general point rather than a criticism of Gana, I think we need players that are able to perform at a high level in all areas of play.
I think they will need work rate, pace and off both defensive and creative abilities.

In general, if we want to get into the top six or even the top four we need more players capable of playing at a higher standard all round.
