This is exactly the sort of thing that holds us back, no more lazy speculation to past managers.

They had they're day and it's gone now. No more jobs for the boys, no more returns for ex managers (unless it's Ancelotti, would have him back in a heartbeat just for the raised profile and the calibre of players he can bring).

No. I can see the attraction - and the hope of bringing back those days when we had limited cash, and Moyes did everything really almost perfectly. We need the spirit, the 'plucky little Everton punching above our weight' days to be back. But I think he was younger, with a point to prove, and he and Everton at the time were a great match. Now we need more, and who knows, maybe our finances are worse than we think.

Moyes was limited in the end, and I think we got the best out of him. Coaches, staff, players, all clicked for that time, but we couldn't progress beyond top 7 .He also couldn't score enough goals. Don't forget apart from Yakubu, we had very little success with our strikers, even though we often had decent ones. Beattie & Johnson were the 'best of the rest' strikers at their time, and didn't score enough. and he didn't really know make things click with creative players (apart from Arteta)

I think we had a great spine - Howard, with his limitations, plus Coleman-Jags-Lescott/Yobo/Heitinga-Baines was a great backbone. Coady & Tarkowski feel like Moyes-era signings, but I think there's too much of a clearcut and renewal for it to work in a rush with Moyes.
