Pretty certain we finished 6th the season before he joined us, also pretty certain we were 13th when he was dismissed, 3 seasons later. That's pretty much all the evidence any Everton fan will need. He's a joke figure amoungst so many Everton fans, he chose Niasse over Dembele and Mori over Van Dijk.
If he is, it's because they're embarrassed for themselves.

Getting shut of Roberto was going to usher in a new exciting era with "the Mosh". "The Mosh" was going to get a top class coach in and top class players.

Three years later we're sitting in the gutter and "the Mosh" is proven to be a crank and the peddlar of a stadium fantasy.

If those Everton fans you talk of view RM as a "joke figure", they should look where he is now and where we are.

No wonder they desperately hang onto jibes out "phenomenal". It's too painful to face up the fact that they were completely wrong about the post-RM future of the club and have made a bit of a tit out of themselves.

Allardyce got us 8th Martinez had us 13th when he could legitimately name this xi (at the time)

Howard

Coleman Jagielka Stones Baines

Barry Cleverley

Mirallas Barkley Deulofeu

Lukaku

13th really isn’t good enough with that squad in my opinion, especially after 37 games when the “big 6” were that bad they didn’t even make up the top 6 that season. As said he’s a joke figure. The best thing about Martinez is he’s still young, so will almost certainly step in at club level again, probably next year, it will be really interesting to see where he goes, at what level, where he picks a team up and where he takes them.

Also, what Everton have done or more to the point not done post Martinez is in no way a credit to Martinez.

In that season we reached the latter stages of two cup competitions, so they were used to good effect.

Lest we forget.

Pretty certain we had two really easy cup runs than were ended the second we played a decent side in any sort of form.

Reading this thread, it’s apparent you have some sort of history of backing Martinez, I’m not getting in to a discussion with you over that, if you want him back or think he shouldn’t of been sacked then that’s up to you, from my point of view he inherited a great base and completely ruined us and left us 7 places lower than he found us, if that’s your cup of tea, then fine, I have no issues with that, he’ll never ever be back, so ultimately the reality is I’m completely fine with that.

He inherited Moyes' Dads Army and got 21 wins out of 38 games and 72 ponts from them.

I dont want him back, btw. But this feller did in his first season here what no Everton manager in the PL before him never did...and we'll struggle to beat that season's win rate and points tally in the next decade. So all talk of him being "a joke" is, in and of itself, a joke and highlights how pathetic those calling him that are....people who were telling anyone who'd listen about the School of Science getting ropened when he was here, no doubt.

Dads army?

Baines and Coleman were in their absolute peak, he was gifted Stones, went to Chelsea for Ba and came back with Lukaku.

You can rewrite history all you want, but that season was, in the main, made up of only 3 of his signings (Lukaku, Barry and McCarthy) and the rest what he was afforded.
