So, those that know me, know that I am an Xbox 360 owner (actually a first gen 360 that is still kicking). But this tickled me concerning the 360's lifetime failure rate:

Microsoft responds to Xbox 360 54.2 percent failure rate report, doesn't dispute the data

What is the best, as highlighted in this article, is that Microsoft don't deny the reported figure, but merely try the age-old art of misdirection to take emphasis away from the numbers

Great stuff!!

yep , there honest alright.
we have 3 360's in our household , 2 have broken , 1 of them twice.

but credit where its due , microsoft picked them up ,fixed them and sent them back all within 7 days.
2 of the times ive been out of warranty , but they still fixed them for free (becouse they could see i have 3 and that 1 of them was still in warranty)

touch wood , we havent had a failure in ages.

Lets not split hairs, the PS3 is technically superior in every way to the Xbox. But it is built by Sony, so they seem to have even less care about the end user than MS does. Plus, game developers are only just now getting to grips with the extra horsepower in the PS3..now they will be belching some serious heat and their failure rates will go up exponentially :P

That said, I still prefer my white Xbox over the PS3.....all the games I want to play....and Live! beats the living crap out of the best that anyone else have to offer.

To each his own though, just lets Xbox, PS3 and Wii owners all agree on one thing. Apple sucks.

Live is awesome!(y)

Apple is not!(n)

Had mine since launch, works fine.

Only problems are that the disc drive occasionally rapes a disc, happened twice with GoW2.

Don't get me started on Xbox 360s.

*glares at blu-ray DVD*

dont worry g.o.t , give it a year or so and those blu rays will be as relevent as your video tape collection anyway.

ps...
ps3 is not superior in every way.(n)
im not going to get into a fan boy debate.
both have upsides and downs , but both are great gadgets

Hope you are enjoying your tiny user base PC mate (y)

Works for me and millions of others. By the way, how much is it costing people to upgrade from Vista to 7? $200 or something? Snow Leopard is costing around $20 to upgrade, and it has many of the features.
