Being fair to Yak he's hardly Duncan Ferguson whats he suppost to do when the ball is 7 feet in the air headed directly onto the bonce of a Kharkiv player?

Yakubu needs to be fed into feet, yes he does seem lethargic but I think thats to conserve energy when the ball eventually gets to him. One major problem with Yak that most of you are over looking is he's being used as a target man isn't this job new to Yakubu? I'm positive he wasn't the type of player for flick ons and challenges in the air for Pompey or Boro'

Yakubu NEEDS to be fed we paid £11 million for him to score goals not to fetch long balls when he gets some decent service then I'll start berating Yakubu but until then I'll reserve my judgement on him.

stats dont lie?

maccabi haiffa doesnt count
portsmouth in the championship doesnt count because beattie has 4 in 5 there :)

so prem goals, has aj scored a similar amout whilst with us and in that one season at palace?

twisting numbers doesnt really get anyone anywhere.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it scoring goals thats important?

Well people say that I am never wrong, well its not just me who has that belief, so basically we are never going to agree on this site, and now that it has become TW Forum again, I can see it getting worse. Shame really, it was looking good for a while.

You might not be wrong, Yakubu could be crap the point is whilst we're playing dire football we will never know how good he actually is as he'll never get the service he needs to put the goals away.

If we are going to make a point of yakubu not getting the appropriate service, do we extend this courtesy to last seasons top scorer for us?

goals count, but beattie is outscoring all our players respectively in the division under the prem.

who was it 3 seasons ago scoring for cardiff or swansea of someone... lee trundle, he got bags of goals for them, but that doesnt equate to doing it at prem level.

yakubu out on the pitch like the player that scored against man ure and chelsea last season please.

certainly havnt seen the real deal at goodison yet.

Wow.

Yakubu has an off game and now we've got people coming out saying that he's a crap signing and it's going to cost us.

Yes. Right-O.

I guarantee a lot of you are the same that were bitching for Moyes to sign another striker in the transfer window.

Some people are never satisified.

Look. It was one match. Get over it. One match doesn't make an entire season or competition. It isn't rocket science to say that the boys underperformed last night and that Moyes might have gotten a few positions wrong.

But it would be wise to keep things in perspective before saying "Yakubu out, Anichebe in" or "Time to drop AJ."

Frankly, when it comes time to head to the Ukraine for the return leg, there isn't much for Moyes to change other than get Arteta in and Hibbert out and drop one of our defensive midfielders.

Leave everything else as is. Way way way too much overreaction on here. Not totally unexpected coming from Evertonians but still, it's a bit much. Everyone take a deep breath and relax a bit.

yakubu was virtually non existant vs man ure

a goal made by jagielka, pienaar and AJ at bolton wasnt enough to hide his deficiencies.

last night was a tragedy, he has to learn he isnt the player the team is focused around, because get vaughan and cahill back and suddenly we have superstars back and hungry.

Oh man, now you're really reaching.

That's exactly it, don't let this bunch of miserable whining UK Evertonians spread over there, keep the optimisim flowing in the states, going to check out for a while. Maybe when I come back certain peeps may have [Poor language removed] off, but then again...
