1 goal every 2.08 games

8 domestic cup goals in 9 appearances
1 goal every 1.1 games

7 domestic European Cup goals in 12 appearances
1 goal every 1.7 games

Portsmouth F.C. (2002 - 2003)

Portsmouth F.C. (2003-2005)
29 Premier League goals in 67 appearances
1 goal every 2.3 games

3 FA Cup goals in 6 appearances
1 goal every 2 games

4 League Cup goals in 5 appearances
1 goal every 1.2 games

Middlesbrough F.C. (2005- 2007)

1 goal every 2.9 games

8 FA Cup goals in 15 appearances
1 goal ever 1.8 games

0 League Cup goals in 2 appearances
0 goals every 2 games

2 UEFA cup goals in 14 appearances

NOW JOHNSON

1997–2002 – Birmingham City
83 app 8 goals
1 goal every 10 games

2002–2006 - Crystal Palace
140 apps 74 goals
1 goal every 1.8 games

2006 Everton
32 apps 11 goals
1 goal every 2.9 games

So Yakubu averages a goal every 2.2 games.
and Johnson averages a goal every 2.7 games.

the problem with all this is, I takes into account goals scored outside the top flight - a relatively easier task. I'd bet James Beattie would kick ass in the israeli league. And probably in the championship as well.

Yeah, but he didnt go from the Prem to the Isreali league, it was the other way round. He started there, and that was his level. He took the same record to Pompey.

I believe (I may be wrong) that Beatties record before he signed for us, would eclipse Yakubus.

stats can prove meaningless when the whistle blows. Only makes any odds after a player has retired.

Still, better than he's scored loads than little eh?

I dont think we need to worry about Yakubu being a goalscorer, he's already proved he is. We should probably be more worried that we still dont really have much width in the midfield, and this may hinder his amount of goalscoring opportunities.

Right on Sim, a striker is only as good as the chances created and the supply from midfield. However we do have a truly recognised strike force and just wait until Vaughan gets better and Vic gets more experience not to mention one or two young ones waiting on the sidelines. Looks better than it has been for many a few years.
