I do not have a clue about Everton financial planning from hereon, but if it takes into account free transfers and writing off losses on signing fees, it is really going to be fascinating to see which of our 10 or so hangers on are actually disposed of before the season starts. Surely not as many as 5. but here's hoping.

We will sell or loan roughly 20+ players this window.

A player who struggled to hold down a starting place in the championship at Villa and resultant loans in the might of the Belgian and Portuguese leagues failed to materialise into offers for him. There is no way he should be even considered as a squad player let alone a starting player.
His terrible injury did for him here. His social media comments haven't crossed any line however it's drawn imo.Of course he's well paid and both club and player will benefit from a move.Good luck to the lad.

Bit harsh with the Villa comments. Bolasie has said himself, he wasn't fit, and he and the club made the decision that 20 minute spells were all he could manage while he built back up. And tbh, I fully sympathise, as I did my ACL in 2017, and everything he says about the pain and what he had to go through, the confidence, the frustration, trying to reestablish the proprioception and balance, spring, and even flexion. I am almost 3 and a half years in, and even with a 9 months of hydrotherapy and nearly 2 years of physio, I still cannot straighten my leg and was unable to have a reconstruction as a result.

The fact that he has got back to the level he has, to continue to play at the highest level, is a testimemt to the incredible hard work he has put in, which I read at 1 point, included altering his entire running style to assist him. He may not be everyone's favourite player. I didn't particularly want us to sign him in the 1st place and we overpaid massively. But he had started OK, and that was cut short only 3 months in. I sympathise with him when he says, if people choose to judge him on those 3 months, then so be it. But he asked not to be judged on the performances under Allardyce, as he was simply nowhere near ready and feels he probably came back far too early.

Chances are, he will never have the same career that he hoped to have when he signed for us, and I do think it's unlikely that he will still be here by the end of his current deal, if not before. But if he has set himself the target of pulling on the blue shirt again, and his hard work and dedication gives him even the smallest of opportunities to try and impress 1 of the worlds best managers, then I for 1 won't begrudge him that, and I wish him all the luck.

Just for once, I would love for 1 of these injured, never to be seen again players actually make an unlikely comeback and become a success to the surprise of everyone. We have had such appealing luck with this sort of thing.

He would still probably offer us more than Bernard and Iwobi as well.

Don't rate him as a player and that annoying signature dribble move he used to always do wound me up no end but I think he's quite a likeable character.

Good point on injuries.

Youre right about changing running style and also in some severe cases people change their walking style as their legs are no longer straight.

Massive psychological effects also for those who struggle to come to terms with their lack of mobility and the unfamiliar struggle with doing the basic things like walking / running.

For a professional sportsman that will be very hard to cope with i imagine and may take several years of recovery to adapt.

With Bolasie i never rated him as a player though so its a moot point for me whether he could recover 100% or not.

Only 12 months left of him.

Under Moyes we used to search out good pros who were on the decline and then give them a chance to do a job for us, albeit generally not ones who were recovered from a severe injury. It would be nice to see any of the outcasts find that level of commitment to start putting performances in again and that includes Bolasie but I wonder if that’s even possible for him given the injury. From what I remember before his injury he put a lot of crosses in but very often with no one on the end of them. To be fair to Bolasie though Lukaku was big but never good in the air whereas DCL wins a lot and Richy can put them away with his head so maybe there could be something there - I think that’s more wishful thinking than anything else though!
