Always seems to have one of his 1/10 against us, mind. At least if we signed him he couldn't do that anymore.

McCarthy is what you call a balance-player - he moves the ball around quickly and makes other players better. He has a wonderful engine and I strongly disagree that he has paper bag lungs. He is more often than not the player who will back up the full backs.

Kev is a big hit and miss - sometimes he is excellent and at other times he cannot do anything right. Kev, Del and Bolaise would be excellent options on the wing IMO. Who to start? Well that would depend on form.

But he palpably doesn't make players better. He's been absolutely awful for two seasons and he was nondescript at Wigan, bar a wonderfully boring video of him vs United where he knocked the ball sideways for 90 mins and everyone got all pseudo soak over him being the borderlands version of Iniesta.

Again, phrases like "wonderful engine" associated with McCarthy would suggest you've got Rocket man style Elton John glasses in the shape of Roberto Martinez on when you're watching the highlights on Match oop Den Taag or whatever it is. He barely runs. Against Palace last season he covered the sort of area of grass that a 7th floor council flat tenant puts their home grown tomatoes on. And they don't even grow on grass.

If you consistently buy players from relegated / mid tier Premier League sides you can't be surprised when you don't move up a level in the league. You wouldn't put substandard parts on your car then expect it to set fastest lap times round Silverstone or have enough room in the back for Stan Collymore and his mates to have a full panoramic of a bird getting boffed.

Long and the short - McCarthy is tosh and Bolaise is rubbish and you don't have a clue.

In his first season with us, he made us tick and his shielding of the back four was great - easily one of our best players. When the team suffered he did so more than others. He might not turn out to be the new Roy Keane, but I hope the RK will be able to beat some confidence into him again.

Would not start him alongside Barry, but if we get Mata or Witsel I would.
lol utterly clueless

I quite like Bolasie from the little i have seen of him, but if we want a mercurial talent on the wing, we already have Kev and Del. when they aren't firing on all cylinders and we need someone more workmanlike on the pitch we have Aaron? I don't see where Bolasie improves on any of those three in their given role? For £10-12m i'd take a punt in him, but for the figures being quoted, nah!

Thankfully Ron can see through the myth and we should hopefully see the back of McCarthy soon enough.

I can only pray cleverly is not far behind him on the way out

McCarthy moves the ball quickly? Christ have heard it all now. The languid, lacksidaisacal way he passes a ball enfuriates me. The inconvenient truth for McCarthy fans, for all the talk of his great engine, the 'immobile' Barry covers more ground almost every single game.

Anyway, Bolaise..

Thankfully football is a game where opinions on who are good and great players differ - we just disagree on McCarthy, but I would never call you clueless just because our opinions differ.
