While i'd rather bring in better than bolasie you'd think we'd be making every effort to wrap up a club record signing in time to make his home debut for the start of the season

Thing is we might of gried that with a few other players who we have gone inlarge for but they didnt want to come, or time wasters like Witsel, I know what you mean but it seems the ones we have struggled on have been the bigger names while the cheap players from Swansea and Villa have sailed through.

Going out on a limb here.... but I think he's been playing her up the middle.....................

Bolaise has never played in a top team, which is what we are, I look at West Ham and Leicester and I'd pick our squad over theirs every time, Martinez has clouded the judgement of many fans of this club.

Palace had a crap season so Bolaise's worth has been diminished, before last season he was highly thought of and several clubs were interested in him.

He has the potential to be a top signing.

What are you basing this statement on?

I have faith that we will become a top team again,... but we are far from that at the moment.

I'm not moaning, just being realistic

The son of an Evertonian friend of mine is head of Sports Science at Southampton.

Apparently he reckons Bolasie is a Koeman (Ron & Erwin) type as he is big, fast, strong & 'position ally versatile' e.g. can play narrow, close to Rom, or wide in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1/4-4-2.

His view is Koeman improves physically gifted types like him (e.g. Wanyama, Mane) by actually teaching them the basics of positioning, movement into space/passing into space. Basically helps them think like footballers.

His hunch is Bolasie will be a far better player after a year with the Koemanx2 influence.

..... Err.... Don't think that's entirely correct. I do like your optimism though.

Injury prone?

if this is the alternative for mata i'd cry. I think we can do better, but he does have the potential to be really really good at a top team, he may be the one to help us win a hell of a lot of away games and to stretch teams at goodison, especially with deulofeu on the other wing.

Like i've said many a time, there is a genuine lack of great wingers in football these days tbf.

I just know he was highly sought after 14/15 and palace had a crap season last time out, from what I've read on Palace forums he's been carrying that team on his own when the chips have been down but he can't do it on his own.

If we can get him for under 25m then he will be worth a punt, we are obviously struggling to attract top players from Europe after the last two seasons under Martinez, we know we've under achieved with this squad and it has been a false position, but the players we have been trying to attract think different and go on two bottom half finishes on the bounce.

As always, I'll give the manager the benefit of the doubt, but reserve the 'Told you so!' just in case.

The lad will need some serious coaching, mainly it seems, in attitude. Technical skills are there for all to see. A very poor goal and assist record might suggest it's a case of 'look how good I am!' on the football pitch where he tries to take on the opposition on his own.

Koeman will surely see that and feels he can coach the lad
