Yannick Bolasie

He was really productive for us when he was playing. Made a lot of chances and got a good amount of assists. Statistically he was impressive, and WhoScored have him as our 4th best player of the season in terms of his average score per game. I know a lot of people think stats like that are nonsense, but they put Rom as number 1, Gueye as number 2 and Ross as number 3, with Coleman at number 5, so I think most blues would agree with that.

A lot of blues won't have any of that though, and only trust what they see. And I get that. I like to gauge players based on stats and what I see with my own two eyes, but I actually did like what I was seeing when he was playing. He's not a goalscorer, in fact he's usually awful in front of goal, but he stretches the game and fullbacks utterly hate him. We looked much more threatening on the counter especially with him in the team. Rom loved playing with him and I think when Rom loves playing with someone that usually says they're good at supplying him, and that's naturally the main thing you'd want from your creative players.

I think the club he came from/his non league background + his fee have meant that some blues just won't ever warm to him. If we'd signed him from Borussia Dortmund for £10m there'd be a lot more love for him.
People have inflexible opinions. I personally thought he was absolute clownshoes before we bought him, but after witnessing him he surely adds something to the team. All of the haters minds were made up before we even signed him.

Today's game, like many away games before it, showed why we overpaid to get Bolasie.
Frustrating and inconsistent as as he can be he, more than any other attacker we have, has the ability to craft a chance when the team is struggling to create anything.

We haven't.

As mentioned even more times.

I reckon so yes. He hasnt been fantastic or anything but he is always a threat and can make something happen out of nothing.

Yep we have

Missed this blud today and no mistake.

He would have shut Middlesbrough DOWN

I'm of the opinion that we'd be vastly better off with him available and vying for the spot with Mirallas and Lookman. In fact it's the away games like Stoke away ( I can't comment on yesterday's game as I've only seen MOTD's 5 second highlights ) where I thought "hmmm he'd be ideal here".

Agree totally.

We've missed him.

everyone having a pop at him was when we were utterly dire and I think he was the only one actually trying to get us out of the slump. Saints away was a prime example, that was a dreadful team performance but I felt he was trying to make things happen single handedly.

I'd like to see him in an Everton side which is playing with confidence and doesn't look as mentally and physically fragile and I think he'd fit superbly into our current set up.

He'd be perfect in that role alongside Lukaku when we play 3/5 at the back. We've been good recently, but i still think we've missed Bolasie.

Except before his injury he was one of our best performers?

The issue we had before his injury was that the whole team was dreadful, not just one or two players. In that time, despite the skeptism in the fanbase to be honest, Bolasie looked like one of our best players. He was scoring, assisting and causing issues for defenders. He was inconsistent sure, we knew that before he arrived that was what we were buying. However when he was injured he was on like 5 assists? A few more sitters he created that were missed would have put him not far off the top players in the league, like De Bruyne who apparantly is top class.
Point is, he could have only got better along with the rest of the team. Ross was terrible during that time, now he isn't. Bolasie would have been a fantastic option to have now so he has been a big loss to us, probably would have won us a few more points in the time he has been out when playing the likes of stoke where we couldn't score that important goal.

Sad thing is that we have lost 2 big players this season to injuries that could take them a year to recover. I hope both Yanick and Sheamus come back roaring because at the hopefully birth of the new Everton, it would have been nice to have them a part of it.

Yes on a plate. So much so Rom got a goal from a Bolasie cross without actually touching the fecking ball.

Watch his assists. And the missed chances, like Ross's awful header where he had tons of the goal to aim at from a few yards away. All of this is from a handful of games, straight away, despite being at a new club with a new style and new players.

He's not Alexis Sanchez but he's effective,he stretches the play and defenders hate playing against him. If you think he's crap then I think you're blinkered. I even recall Seamus saying he was the toughest winger he'd played against, way before there was any mention of us signing him.

Oh we have.

You may not have. We have though.

You must have more time on your hands than is good for you ijjy, if you can be arsed trawling through Internet forums to back up an Internet argument about a bang average football player.

I am sure whilst you were doing that, you came across even more posts taking the opposite viewpoint.

But of course you will not admit to that :)
