If we time warped back to last season let me know and I'll just end it now. However I'm under the impression that this is a new season with new players for both teams and a new manager for ours.

Interesting question this may raise. If it's not simply about competing in the competition, is it better brand-wise to be a player in a crap league but play in the champions league or play in the premier league with no champions league?

Yeah I don't know the right answer. However that's a sample size of one player.
Taison is someone at Shakhtar that has been there forever, probably could have left any time in the last 4 years and hasn't got his big money champions league move.
