Remember that it's not quite the same as the Geri situation as Mina is non-EU so you'd have to imagine he'd have to perform very well for Barca to use up one of their 3 non-EU slots on him.

not really - he does well for us and they'll resign him just to sell him on

Which means they'd have to have someone lined up to pay more than the buy-back clause pretty much instantly as I doubt they'd use one of their slots on squad-fodder in the hope someone comes in.

That would only apply during the season though. If he has a decent / more than decent season with us, they could buy him back and sell him without the 3 non-EU thing ever becoming an issue.

Which means they'd have to have someone lined up in the off-season, there's a finite amount of clubs paying that kind of money for defenders and if they're that confident it means he's done very well for us. I'd have happily taken that scenario at the start of the day.
