2019/20 Yerry Mina

I wonder when the last time was an Everton centre-back had scored twice in a PL game? Lescott perhaps?

Yerry Mina is the first defender to score two goals in a Premier League game for Everton since Leighton Baines v West Ham in September 2013

He was always going to be a David Luiz-style of CB that scores and occasionally does boneheaded things. If he were a rock at the back and a scorer, he'd have cost Van Dijk money to buy.

I was reading an interesting article the other day that suggested that CBs generally don't come into their own until their mid twenties, presumably because the match-reading decision-making is so complex. Could be seeing that process right in front of us.

Show's what a bit of in-game management can do.
Had a tough 30/35 mins agst Deeney who was drawing Mina out of position from Fosters long kicks.
He or Carlo changed it and he dropped 5 yards leaving Siggy or Delph to challenge Deeney.
Deeney of course carried on winning the flick on's but Mina just mopped them up.
Has was excellent after that. Well done Big Guy.
