His last injury had me thinking we should cut our losses and sell this summer, but the more I think about it, I'd hand him a new contract today no question, even on his big wages. He's not so perma-injured that he doesn't still hold value in the market. It's just very disruptive in a position where you want the least amount of disruption. With a new long term contract signed we could still sell him, and demand more money. To be fair we probably have offered him one, but I wouldn't blame him for wanting to wait to see where we're headed post Carlo.
Finding good center halves is difficult, as you said. You either pay huge money or take a gamble. I can't see us selling both him and Keane in one window, and I want Keane out of this club more than pretty much anybody.
