The MLS all stars got me thinking randomly about the best 11 people to come out of your country. Of all time.

I reckon Australia's All star Team would look like this

GK - Sir Henry Parkes - The Father of Federation

RB - Sir Charles Kingsford Smith - Pioneer Aviator

LB - Dr Fred Hollows - Legendary Eye Surgeon

CB - Rupert Murdoch - Media Magnate

CB - Henry Lawson - Poet

RM - Bennelong - Most well known Indigenous Australian

LM - Sir Edward 'Weary' Dunlop - First world war Feild Surgeon

CM - Ned Kelly - Bushranger

CM - Caroline Chisholm - Pioneering Social Worker

ST - Errol Flynn - Actor

ST - Sir Don Bradman - Cricket's Pele

Bench - Edith Cowan (First female Magistrate), Sir Douglas Mawson (Explorer), Dame Edna Everigde (entertainer), Eddie Mabo (Aboriginal rights activist), Norman Lindsay (Artist), Dawn Fraser (Olympic Swimmer), Dame Joan Sutherland (singer).

Any one reckon they their country could beat that line up?

John Ruddy
Tony Hibbert-Phil Jagielka-Joleon Lescott-Leighton Baines
Leon Osman-Phil Neville-Jack Rodwell-Dan Gosling
Jose Baxter
James Vaughan
Wait, what???

I'll give it a go.

GK - Tim Berners-Lee

LB - Lord Nelson

CB - Winston Churchill

CB - Oliver Cromwell

RB - Francis Drake

LM - Frank Whittle

RM - Amy Johnson

ST - Roger Bannister

ST - Charles Dickens

Good solid defence, creative midfield with some impressive wingers, two good finishers and a genius to look after the net.

I'd give you some rep but I cant. Your the only good person who's posted in this thread.

Cromwell at the back is inspired management.

nothin' better than getting a good roundhead on the ball, i look forward to him coming up against glasgi rangers, or reading.

so no big joe bugner, cathy freeman, paul keating, rolf, jason donovan, steve irwin, or bee smith in there for the ball-draggers ?

for us it would have to be a squad including

brunel
babbage
whitworth
stephenson
cook
raleigh
richard the lionheart

There were a few that missed the cut. I had to keep the entertainers in the reserves, you cant have too much flair on your team and who better than the original Hollywood pants man Flynn. Steve Irwin was in with a shout, but environmentally Ian McKernan (clean Up Aust) and Ben Lexen were better choices. Even Paul Hogan just missed out. Thats coz he's a tax dodger.
