Your first world cup memories

Yeah. I was thinking that exact thing today as I get all ready for a tournament in HD.

That poor sound quality really added to the experience.

Everything looks the same these days. Wherever the tournament is.

In fact Mexico was the last World Cup where playing footy was more important than watching it.

I was playing in the street with some of the street gang during England Argentina and just told my ma to call out if England scored.

The fact I missed the hand of God took quite a bit of the pain away. I was ****ting my neighbour Si at 3 and in long range shooting from the other side of the road the goal being my garden gates.

I was boss at shooties and three and in. Headers and volleys was my A game though, I was unbelievable.

Heads and volleys was serious shizzle. No volleys in the box.

Long range shooting was my bag. Nothing like the sound of the gates clanging as another rocket finds its way home via the opened metal gate.

Dont remember much cos I was only 6 when England won it. My dad took me to Goodison and I can vaguely remember Ray Wilson and Roger Hunt running round the pitch with the World Cup but cant for the life of me remember what game it was but I do remember my dad taking me to Allerton station to see the blues come home with the FA Cup that year too. Also the ice creams vans used to sell ice cream in a plastic ball about the size of a tennis ball. You had to take the lid off and scoop the ice cream out with a spoon then you could play with the ball. Theyre my earliest memories about football.
