Lescott is the first one. He did a good job defensively and is the best scoring defender in the league I think.

Yakubu is close though... First Everton player in many, many years to reach 20 goals in a season.. and it is his first season for us.

lescott without 2nd thought, anichebe's european goals were crucial to the european run which was my highlight of the season which makes him a very distant 2nd

I am going to for Yobo purely because Jags and Lescott have got all the plaudits, we tend to forget that he has been there all season be it with Lescott or Jags, he has been consistent and a rock at the back, and for me can have more of an influence on the team then a left back. He has also cut out silly lapses, and i honestly cant remember him missing a game. He seems to pop up effortlessly at vital moments like any good centre half, and has scored as well. I think he also has to be credited with a role in easing Yakubu in to settleing at the club!

An important point is we have seen an effortless adjustment from the Stubbs and Weir era to what we have at the moment and Yobo deserves a signficant part if not the majority of the credit for that.

I sometimes think he doesnt get the credit he deserves as he has been with us for so long!

My top man!(y)

I never thought that someone would score21 goals and not get my vote but Lescott has been outstanding so he gets my vote

Yobo come on tremendously over the past two seasons and has now developed into an excellent centre half. I think alongside Ossie he is our unsung hero. Definatly a contender in my opinion.

not missed a game apart from his month long stint in the african cup not having a pop at him because he would be in my 11 over jags any day but this season, lescotts season is incomparable to any defender in the league never mind our own players.

he started every league game except one (came on off the bench in the other), scoring 8 goals...

Some very good points there Neiler.

yak would have got a better rating from me if he didnt do an impression of a lazy sack of spuds in a third of his matches.

I voted Yak, mainly because I feel guilty for writing him off and wondering why we spent 11mill on him........

ahem....money well spent..:D

I know he hasn't always performed but his goals have won some crucial matches....

Problem is...I want more and next season I want 40 goals from AJ and Yak!!:o

i personally think lescott just barely edges out howard for it, and since lescott's gotten more than enough praise i voted howard (it may be the american bias talking)

this season howard has been spectacular, seeing turner last year against manchester and wessels this year made me believe in him more than anything. i feel so much more confident with him in goal than anyone else and he only seems to get better and better.

our back 4 has been great this year, and i don't think they'd play with that much confidence if howard wasn't there

I voted Yakubu, his emergence will be what sticks out in my mind when I look back on this season in years to come.

I'm really not trying to stir up controversy and hope this doesn't provoke any acrimony but I thought Lescott, goals aside, was better last year. I think he often looks uncomfortable on the ball and has made a number of mistakes this year which could have cost us goals (which Yobo or Neville would've been slated for) - one that comes to mind is against Reading at home when he let someone clean in with a misjudgement and was bailed out by Jags. Still think he's a good player mind you, but I don't think he's the best defender at the club nevermind the league.

Would have been interesting if we could have done a 1,2,3 to see who finished runner up and third place.

Well, I guess Yak would be in second with FOUR whole votes, just edging out Howard and Jags with THREE each versus the THIRTY-THREE for Joleon.

So far:

1st: Lescott
2nd: Yakubu
3rd: Howard/Jagielka
