A striker is first priority. Demba Ba would certainly fit that category.

Still hope we make a swoop for Jelle Vossen of Racing Genk. Maybe loan him back to Genk for another season.

Georginio Wijnaldum of Feyenoord.

Also, Brian Ruiz of FC Twente is reportedly availlable for 'just' 8m euro. Would be a steal at that price.

Back up left back. No need, if Garbutt is ready to make that step up.

Some decent CB. Maybe wait for January, as Douglas Franco Texeira of Twente will have a Dutch passport and probably be in the Dutch team.

Sell, Yobo, Yak, Vaughan, Anichebe, Mucha, Bilyaletdinov and Heitinga.

Sturridge. No idea how much he'd cost, but surely nothing over £20m. Therefore if Chelsea are interested in Rodders, a swap deal including those two would be the deal of the summer. Then sell Bily, Yak, Yobo, Victor and we've already sold Vaughan (around 17m) to spend on Donovan and Jarvis (around 11/12m) to sort out the winger problem. Some cover at LB in addition would mean we're twice the side we were last year.

Demba Ba - Wikipedia

He picked up fractures in his tibia and fibula, and out of action between August 2006 and April 2007.

In July 2009, he was due to move to VfB Stuttgart, but the move fell through after he failed a medical.

In January 2011 a proposed move to Stoke City fell through after Ba failed a medical.

Still think I would need to pick up one of these....

Sorry LD, had to move on.

i definitely dont think we should be going in for ba, is ridiculously inconstant and has a record of trouble and being a whiney bitch. not the sort of player we need / want at everton, id prefer shane long to him as he would be available at roughly the same price and showed in the championship this season he has an awful lot to offer. if klose could be persuaded he'd be a serious addition to the squad.
i think a left footed left midfielder is also an area we need to get sorted, preferably someone young with potential, de bruins is getting rave reviews in belgium?! i think n'zogbia would set us back too much price probably around 12 mill plus? sure you could get downing for the same price and hes far better.. jarvis too might be too expensive.
i like the sound of defour being mentioned serious player would do an amazing job for us. but cm is not a position in the most urgent need of recruitments.
hopefully we get our men this summer though, yobo, yak, anichebe, need to go. if we get a big money offer for fellaini then sell him, he'd be twice the player he is if he actually bothered his arse, walks around with a big mopey head on him and doesn look to ever give a toss, infuriates me. bily, heitinga i think still definately have a place at the club.

A couple of Aussies that will be good for us.

Brett Holman - 27yo, currently at AZ Alkmaar. Has improved a lot in the last 18 months, and is now considered a key member of the Australian national team. Scored two goals in South Africa last year, and has some Champions League experience with AZ. Moyes' type of player - hard working, team oriented, and versatile (can play on the left wing, behind the striker/s, or up top). I think his best years are ahead of him.

Rhys Williams - 22yo, currently at Middlesbrough. Extremely promising defender whose rise has been curtailed by a consistent pelvic problem. Features for the Australia national team at right-back but can play in a number of positions (centre-back, defensive mid). Very comfortable on the ball, good distribution and extremely athletic despite been well over 6ft. Will be a risk signing considering his injury history but at 2-2.5mill, will definitely be a risk worth taking.

Realistically I expect Ba to sign along with a winger probably worth £8m+ and hopefully another striker (Long) I think Bily will be sold.

I have heard this before and am not sure where its coming from. The only instance of Ba being whiny was when Hoffenheim told him he could move and then stopped him from doing so. Other than that I dont recall any other problems from him.

Bolton were interested in him last month with a fee of 3mill reported. Boro fans rate him very highly. http://www.oneboro.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?tid=2126

Well it really depends on whether we sell one of our top sales targets (Baines, Fellaini or Rodwell) together with the expensive but non-performers (Yak, Yobo, Heitinga, Anichebe and Bilayletdinov) and perhaps some of the older ones (Saha, Neville and Distin).

I'm very much in favour of a complete overhaul of the squad, not to take place in this transfer window alone, but over the next 3. I also want us to build a team with a large British core of young and hungry players. If we sell say Fellaini, Saha, Distin and the non-performers we should have close to £40 m. to put into the team. I would target these:

James McCarthy (def mid)
James Morrison (mid or winger)
Victor Moses or Graham Dorrans (winger or in Moses' case winger and forward)
Lewis Holtby (left winger/mid)
Demba Ba (striker)
Shane Long (striker)
Ashley Williams, Roger Johnson or Scott Dann (defender)

I'm definitely NOT in favour of a complete overhaul of the squad. It's OK to be ambitious, but we have to be realistic. Successful teams are built patiently improving the quality as opportunity arises by moving in and out 2/3 players each time. Why would you want to sell Baines or Fellaini - name others players of their ilk who would sign for us - money in the bank is no good - Moyes would not see 100% of it - better to have the players on the pitch.

We already have a good team - proven to be in the top 7 sides in England during the past season. Admittedly it needs more strength in one or two positions and increased depth throughout - but it doesn't need 'overhauling', that would be a disaster. Continuity is key for me.
