Your starting eleven against Newcastle

So it turns out that Gomes has been an ever present in our good performances this season, and that we missed him big time today.

He’s been good this season, and he should without doubt be occupying that third central midfield position against Newcastle!

Truth is that he’s been taken out of our midfield and we’ve been completely overrun.

Not really he was terrible last weekend against Liverpool.

Gomes was awful last week. I wasn’t surprised he was dropped but I would have played Delph myself.

It’s a massive exaggeration to call him awful last week. I don’t remember us getting overrun in midfield last week, whereas we couldn’t even hold on to it for five seconds today.

If Gomes was awful last week, what was the whole of our midfield this week?

Whoever (Pickford realistically)
Kenny Keane Mina Nkounkou
Delph Allan Doucoure
James Calvert-Lewin Gordon

If Kenny is not able to go then Godfrey I suppose.

Olsen
Kenny Mina kean digne
Douc Alan Gomes
James dcl Gordon
This, basically. NKounkou if Signed doesn't get rescinded. Pickford still has calamity all over him but I dont think he will be dropped tbh.

If James is out is the problem though. Bernard and Iwobi aren't good choices for me. Probably lash Delph in and let Gomes go.a bit further forward with Doucoure playing between the lines

Would rather have Davies at RB than Godfrey for the moment. Davies has been plop but he can be disciplined tactically at least.

If Kenny and James are fit and Diane is suspended this is what I would go with.

Pickford
Kenny Minard Keane Nkounkou
Doucoure Allan Gomes
James Calvert-Lewin Bernard
