Sort of signing you make as an understudy to an established CF.

Hope he does well if he signs but feels a little like the Kean signing in that he'll likely be thrust into the starting 11 too soon with much burden on his shoulders.

Hope we're not once again pitching DCL as our starting CF the poor boy just cannot stay fit.
Kean was one of the most highly regarded young strikers in European football at the time, I don’t think anyone expected him to be as poo as he was. This kid won’t be under any pressure. If he can come in and not be maupay then we’ve done well.

Straight into the u21s…

Either way he will sit on the bench watching DCL scuff it or Maupay slice it wide.. “ one for the future”.. or whatever.

It’s so hard to view anything optimistically

Dcl won't be fit enough to scuff it and he comes in and repalces maupay straight away regardless of how young he is.

His goalscoring stats (which are based on half a season where he's only getting 50 odd mins a game) are about a goal every 3 games, so about 12 - 13 goals a season. Happy days if he contributed that. Also goals per game in Portugal is lower than most leagues.

If we had a fit DCL starting games I would agree but realistically he'll have to be our starting striker for most of next season. Depending on the extent of Mcneil's injury there may well be a lot of pressure heaped on the boy in terms of making tings happen up top especially if we end up in another relegation battle.

Average for Sporting Lisbon is probably a big upgrade in many spots for Everton. A guy that would be very good for a top flight team is not joining Everton right now. This season, like the last two, is a battle to not be 1 of the 3 slowest gazelles that get eaten by the lions.
It’s also possible that he might just be more suited to Sean Dyche’s Everton than Ruben Amorim’s Sporting. I believe there are minor stylistic differences between the two.

Didn't I read an 80 million release clause? Possibly out of our range for a player who also seems to have no interest in joining us

Yeh I read about the release clause. Though, why would it be reported that Everton have come to an agreement with the club? It's also being touted that the price is in the €13m range

These release clauses are irrelevant. They are a legal requirement and priced so high as to be a non factor. The price by all accounts is up to 15m.
