Looking very good but keeping players fit is key.

Tarkowski Patterson Onana - yes

Keane Coleman Davies - No no no -hello the last five years

A huge part of our step forward is personnel.

Mykolenko Tarkowski Coady Patterson with Gueye infront of them is just a million miles away from

Kenny Holgate Keane Coleman with Davies or Gomes in front of them.

We can’t let all this good work by Frank and his coaching team be undone by our inability to keep players fit.

Get the injured players back (except Godfrey who is long term) and let Lampard have a clear run at the rest of the season without having to rely on players who have failed every manager they’ve had for 5 years.

100%

Better players = better results.

People talking about 7th place finishes already are setting unrealistic expectations. I know a few of fat man’s disciples are doing it so they can say the manager failed when he doesn’t achieve this.

But the sound minded ones need to remember that:
1) we haven’t finished 7th since 2017
2) we haven’t finished top half since 2019
3) we survived relegation by the skin of our teeth last season after one of our worst ever seasons with the club being in complete turmoil.

This season is all about laying the foundations.
Of course we should be aiming to finish as high as possible, but we need to remain realistic.

Technically Carlo had us top half with 10th in 20/21.

Carlo Fantastico!

But for real your points are very valid and I am certainly not slagging off Carlo, had we been in a place to give him some actual players to work with we'd have won something imo.

So are we now crediting the manager with those signings? Because in the summer you said that Thelwell’s job is to basically buy all the players Lampard asks for, so what you’re saying here is that our manager has done another brilliant job identifying the players that have improved the team.

Super indeed ?

Doesn’t look happy heads obviously been turned

I will be very interested to see how Utd respond after their derby beatdown.

FWIW they did score 3, although City clearly relented a bit.

But they seemed demoralized and kind of lost. Ten Hag is an improvement but this is still a FPL team that still doesn't know how to play together. If CR7 isn't going to play he should have been dumped, even at great cost since the Glazers are not short of money. Having him sit on the end of the bench just makes the whole atmosphere poisionous, the only thing anyone asks when watching is "when is Ronaldo coming in?" Then when he does come in, it destroys any semblance of shape or plan, it's just "Ronaldo does stuff." Same to a degree with Maguire, who obviously was never near Ronaldo's heights as a player but at least was a sort-of elite CB at one time. He's had a Keane-esque loss of confidence and I'm sure the huge price tag puts pressure on him. Watching those two sulk on the bench just takes the piss out of them.

They still have enough quality to beat anyone (other than City) but atm we have more of an identity and are on an upward trajectory. They still have to be favored, but at Goodison at night, with the crowd in full throat, especially with Dom back, if we can get the first goal we can make their heads drop.
