I don’t think 2 up front works without Doucouré ( I’m not absolutely sure it works with him), Midfield was effectively bypassed today with no second balls getting won. For me, the plan today didn’t suit Beto. Where we are seems to be DCL or Beto

I so badly wanted this fella to do well as he seems so likeable - but as grim as the whole team was today - this fella had at least 3 decent chances to score and missed them all. He cost us the match. We go ahead and Luton are chasing the game. Failure to do so shows we cannot come back. Commentator said we haven't won a game at Goodison when we've gone behind since April 2022. He's one of the clumsiest unco-ordinated players I've ever seen and I doubt he'll be in the PL at the end of the season. Really hope I'm wrong as he has a great attitude. But so would I on these salaries.

The lad up front for non league maidstone united today looked better than both beto and CL. Ran with the ball at his feet on the counter.. Took his goal superbly. If either of those two up front today had a clear run on goal i wouldnt be confident it ending up in the net. How is it a non league striker looked more composed than both of ours. I keep reading our strikers get no service. Thats not strictly true, though its not great. But that doesnt mean you should have strikers who never ever create anything themselves.
A forward line thats got 4 premier league goals between them is beyond excusable tbh.

So you accept the issue is with supply. Sound. Our two strikers are snatching at chances because they're getting so little service. If they were missing 5 golden chances per game I'd have a lot more of an issue. FK's and corners are woeful. Delivery rarely beats the first man. All to predictable.

No way do the strikers get a pass they’ve been terrible! Not saying the supply hasn’t been terrible too but not enough to excuse how they’ve been playing.

He does need to improve and the only way that will happen is with more time on the pitch. He missed a few chances today but at least he was in a position to have a chance

You can improve in training too and he has to earn time on the pitch by not being awful every time he gets on it. It’s a tough assignment he’s got but if he keeps failing to do the basics he won’t keep getting picked.
