Where Dyche deserves credit for me, is we have now conceded 8 goals in 11 games. A big part of that is Brainthwaite returning, but aside from that we have defended much better. 4 of those were in a single calamitous game.
That is the best in the league, but a reasonable distance as well. That's his MO, and honestly he's fulfilling that role well.
What it means, is you tend to accumulate points, without often playing well, or looking particularly inspiring. You always have a chance in games though, as they become a bit of a lottery. It sounds bad, but that's how you survive in this league, particularly now where 30 points gets you safe.
You keep the scoreboard ticking over so to speak. I look at those 3 in the drop zone, and particularly Leicester and they just concede too many goals. A bit like us under Lampard/Benitez. It just means you lose too many games.
It sounds arrogant, but I don't worry about us in any game, as I think most weeks we will be competitive. My concern is more, whether in key games we need to win, we will get over the line.
