Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I hate the January window. It genuinely does tend to represent horrible value. I’ve maintained for a while that we’ve got a good enough first 13/14 to keep us up pretty comfortably, but I’d be lying if I said my arse wasn’t going a bit at the prospect of what will happen if we lose Beto or a FB to injury.

If the story is that the manager/DoF couldn’t justify the outlay on players that wouldn’t improve us, though, I’ll take it. There’s a massive summer in the offing regardless so as long as work starts on that tomorrow it’s all good.

Thing is, if they try the same thing in the summer, wait it out until the last minute then decide there is no value...

I mean, I don't know if we actually ibd for anyody....Alc aside.
Pretty sure that if they do that then we will barely field a starting 11. It’s fair to say we will have a busy summer with players out of contract and off the wage bill, our finances generally changing because of the wages to income headroom potentially driven by the new stadium.

Get through this season and it will be a different scenario in the summer.

Just don’t see the point in crying about it repeatedly. You think Villa, Newcastle or Forest, or even Bournemouth thought 5 years ago they would be where they are now? Give it a chance.

They weren’t happy to sit with Dyche evidently as they sacked him. Thelwell is out of contract in a few months. They are doing a review of the whole club which takes time (and they couldn’t do before because they didn’t actually own us).

The new era hasn’t started yet. No point trying to rebuild in January when we are still fighting relegation. Get safe, get to summer and we become much more appealing to better players with the new stadium and more money.
They are doing the bare minimum, pump a bit in and lets push on but we will fight for 14th-17th, some ambition that!
