Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

…I imagine the only way Branthwaite leaves is if he pushes for a move. If he does, that’s the end game but given our dreadful contract situation Moyes will not be wanting to lose his best CH, leaving him with only Tarkowski and O’Brien going into the new season.

I agree in terms of Branthwaite. I can't see him going this summer tbh. He hasn't had a good enough season (this) to justify a price tag that we were asking for last summer and I would still be trying to hold out for a big fee. I can see us trying to keep him for one more year with contract discussions this summer, perhaps with a release clause included.

0 goals this season from Branthwaite, Mykolenko, Gueye, Lindstrom and Harrison despite them starting 81 games between them, and a meagre one goal each from Doucoure, Mangala, Tarkowski and Young despite starting almost 80 games between them really is a shocking return and highlights exactly where we need to be strengthening in the summer.

Obviously Lindstrom, Harrison, Young and Doucoure are all at least unlikely to be here next season, and no guarantee we retain Gueye, but we need more goals from the rest of them and to add players capable of impacting games in and around the opposition box, as well as obviously as good a striker as we can acquire.

Build and improve (new starting LB) on our strong defence, add goals and creativity in midfield and attack.
  • 2x wingers with pace and the ability to shoot - obviously to replace JH and JL. No more guaranteed starts for McNeil please.
  • 1x combative box-to-box CM to challenge for a start.
  • 1x starting centre forward
  • 1x additional centre forward option
  • 1x genuine starting left wing back
  • 1x backup centre half (Keane leaving, only JB, JT and JOB left on the books, with JOB currently first choice RB as it stands)
Ndiaye to hopefully be moved into the number 10 position and given more of a free role next season. At this rate I'd probably even be looking to retain Beto if nobody is going to make it worth our while to buy him (20m or so) - he's certainly a very different type of striker and can always provide an alternative option.
