Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I get all the financial constraints but not getting relegated really is the lowest of low bars. Whilst I agree our PSR position clearly inhibited spending and had done for years. Recruitment is also about talent ID, securing targets and equipping a squad with attributes it needs, one of those is PACE, our DOF has not proven he can do this yet.
I’m not defending him but I’m pretty sure our main recruitment priority over the last few years has been to make a profit. Nothing more.

I would have preferred us to recruit at least one extra body last month but the summer is when we can finally start recruiting for the team and not PSR.

He'd instantly improve United, City too currently as they've lasted a lot of money on players not as good as him this January, Chelsea badly need a CB also it's their biggest issue currently.

Spurs when fit and Arsenal don't need him as both have very very good defences, and the rs would definitely benefit from having him - especially so as VVD is getting older.

That's talking about his he is exactly now, the chances are he's still improving...
Interesting. I guess the proof will be in the summer window!

With the greatest respect to Paddy Boyland, Moyes mentioned several times in the last few weeks that although he’d like recruits, we were still heavily hamstrung by PSR. That will still be the case up until July 1st when the new financial year resets. So we know there’s currently very little money to spend so it would make no sense whatsoever, to buy a player for 10 million or so, (unless of course it’s a player you really want regardless), when you could buy a far better player for the same position for more money when it becomes available a few weeks later in July.
Wouldn't it be 1 month of amortization over the length of the contract? Though signing on fees could prove expensive if they are considered a lump sum.

…I imagine the only way Branthwaite leaves is if he pushes for a move. If he does, that’s the end game but given our dreadful contract situation Moyes will not be wanting to lose his best CH, leaving him with only Tarkowski and O’Brien going into the new season.

Wouldn't swear on it but with PSR in the current form I'd imagine clubs would h as very much avoid large signings fees and would instead spread that cost over a higher base wage.

You'd imagine Moyes would be having one eye on Jarrod and O'Brien being the CB partnership going into the next season really.

Smart move would be to already be on the blower to City talking about a price for Delap come the summer, with them having the buyback option at a way lower price than Ipswich will be asking, seems the easiest option. No doubt Ipswich will hope for an auction but it's out their hands if City do a separate third party deal

The only team he doesn't get in is Arsenal for me.

Like when he plays for us we have the best at defence in the league statistically.
