2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

The only frustrating thing about the last 6 or 7 weeks, is that despite building a 15 (FIFTEEN) point gap to the bottom 3, and putting together a 7 game unbeaten run, we are still 16th in the table !

Feel like we deserve a bit more from the effort we've put in recently. But still plenty of time to move up a few places.
That’ll have something to do with our results pre the unbeaten run 😉

Cooper is rubbish too. Just less rubbish than RVN.

I thought they were the worst team(even under Cooper) we played until Southampton away but he did have a system which was getting some points

How we only drew that game is beyond me.
I mean ultimately they're a rubbish team, and they would be under any manager. Under RVN they look appalling and are tracking to be one of the worst ever, under Cooper they were looking like they could at least compete and give themselves a chance. I have no interest in Cooper in particular, I just don't necessarily think hiring him was a big mistake on their part. They were a newly promoted side without much money and who everyone assumed was getting a points deduction - I'm not sure they had their pick of anyone they wanted.

The other way to look at it is thank goodness we put that run in, otherwise we'd be totally adrift from the pack we're in touch with and still looking over our shoulder with massive anxiety!

Obviously we all want to finish higher, and we deserve to based on current run. As no doubt you would get certain fans saying we have not improved if we ended same place, as to what Dyche left us etc (As thats what some are like). But the main thing was to be a Prem League team and move into the new Ground as one, not have other fans mock us as they have loved doing over the years - best ground in league below etc. Everything looks like it could be as much as a clean slate from the summer as pos. To get through what we have done over the last 3 odd years, i doubt many clubs could pull it off

This.

Lets not change the goalposts after a good run, we would have all taken just staying in the prem by hook or crook before hand.

Whilst I know we need the break, is anyone else a bit sad that we don't have a game this weekend?

Again massive change from a couple of months back when I was dreading each weekend!
I want us to play evey week, even if we were losing  Boring when we dont play. I just hope this little gap and where we have gone to do warm weather training, does not effect in the wrong way

To me it just shows the divide is getting bigger, it's not good that the same teams that come up go down every year. It's created divisions within divisions now the PL and the abhorrent amount of money involved.

The thing that used to separate our league was the fact that even those at the bottom were competitive and 40 points was needed for safety. Sad now that the teams at the bottom get trounced every week and get nowhere near 40 points.

It's basically, without swearing, crap, these days. A team financially doped up to the eyeballs win 4 on the trot, something never seen before in our league. Whilst that avenue of owners spending has been stopped for everyone else.

It feels like it is a mistake if you're going to replace him the instant you start to wet the bed. I don't think they ever really believed in Cooper and it seems they're not in a position where they can't replace RVN because of PSR.

I’m annoyed

The one time we’re not in a relegation battle it’s suddenly the most boring and foretold battle in recent premier league history.

I wanted to watch some last day drama like when we had Bournemouth but without us in it.

Everton that

Well yeah, but that's a bit of a reach isn't it? I would say it was sacking him that was the issue because I have no idea how they could have come to the conclusion that 16th was an unacceptable position for a newly promoted team to be in 25% of the way through the season, but as with any manager who ends up losing their job, I suppose you could go all the way back to them being appointed and say it can't have been a good appointment in the first place because otherwise they wouldn't have ended up getting sacked.

What was the gap 7 weeks ago?

Correct; One...
