ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

You know I wasn't ordained to follow any particular team. My dad liked rugby growing up... and yes, sometimes I do wonder what I've missed out on by choosing the blue route.

I could have been in that pic with my best mate celebrating the RS' UCL win in 2005. The memories I could have had alongside my grandad and great aunt in the Centenary stand, the endless street cred from (soon to be) 20 league titles, the (likely) 7 European cups, and winning the EFL Cup with the same effort it takes me to flick a light switch. Lord knows these cringy Meetups with fellow 'yo-pros' from every wool town imaginable would be far less awkward.

But then I'd be one of them. Believing that I above all others somehow made all that happen, despite the fact that 17 of their titles and four of their European cups predate my birth. I'd represent everything football should stand against - greed, corruption, murder, poor sportsmanship.... and more recently, forced evictions.

That I have avoided being one of 'them' is the greatest victory anyone can ask for.
I’ve got a few reds in my family and been around their very weird celebrations co-joined-piss-ups where their birds suddenly remember to sing and they end up having a beak argument and wonder who’s having the baby for the rest of the night.

I'm immune to them winning stuff. It's more the constant whining for attention and demanding everyone pays "respect" to them. Especially meffs who think going on a stadium tour and never actually to going a competitive game constitutes "support".
Most of the RS I know support them in the same way I support NASA, I've watched the moon landings on my TV (and clapped) but Ive never actually been, cant get a ticket ya know

I think as our relegation fears have eased it's started to bother us more that those c u nxt tuesdays are going to win the league etc. That covid title has taken the sting out of it a bit but they are still the most unbearable around, turn off the social media, whatts app etc for a couple of weeks in May. On another note, notice they got a new Adidas deal, why have we never had an Adidas kit? would love an adidas kit.
Probably because they haven’t offered us enough dough. Although I’d like to see us in an adidas kit as we’ve had all the other kit manufacturers bar kappa.

Like anything, It'll only bother you if you let it bother you.
They've won it before...covid asterisk ventolin leagues, VAR penalty assisted leagues, NEAd
Although it seems harsh that the old saying cheats never prosper doesn't seem to apply
The world didnt end before and wont end now
All things must pass.
If I had to be one of them to win the League, I'd rather do without.

It won't bother me in the slightest, just as long as the mutants stay away from our new stadium. I would never swap their history for ours, nor a league title, covid or not, nor this one, nor a boss red Adidas kit that you seem to love.
I actually hadn't noticed they got a new kit deal but why would I, glad you noticed though

It doesn't bother me as much as it used to. They are in the title conversation most if not every year now, so they're going to get over the line every so often. That they've won only one asterisk title in the so-called modern era before this one is a bit unbelievable really, when you think about it.

I'm more concerned about them winning anything else to go with it this year, especially the UCL. Just have to hope Ancelotti & co. have their measure again.

I can relate Bry…

As I mentioned in @Dancing Pat’s birthday thread yesterday, it was also my Uncle Pat’s birthday. He’s a full blown RS.

We all wished him on the family WhatsApp group, and this was his reply to everyone:
‘Many thanks to all of my wonderful family for your good wishes. I think the Liverpool anthem 'you'll never walk alone' certainly should also be the motto for the whole family!’

How do you even respond to that?!

That’s all you can do.

They are insufferable, took my Grandaughter to the Leisure centre to play Badmington, one of the fellas saw my Everton training top and mentioned, in front of his co workers. "Hope you beat Arsenal, then we can sing, we won the league at Goodison Park". Took the smile right off his face when I replied, weren't you singing that a few weeks ago, Until the Tarkowski rocket in the last minute.

Living down the road from the pit it always amazes me the coach loads of people that turn up on not match days....

The areas a cesspit of dereliction....match day is the only reason you'd willingly be there if you're sane
