Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

He's been more than decent when had the opportunity. No point in paying big money for someone else.
Who says it has to be big money? I think we can get a young, up and coming keeper. One that wouldn't cost the earth but has the potential to push

Plus, Virginia has been here long enough, he deserves first team footy, not just a bit-part for early rounds of cup games. We need pressure on Pickford

Or it could be a keeper already on the books, I think Tyrer will be a good keeper in time... Begovic is another out of comntract, I`d let him go and let Crellin be that 3rd keeper.

….Dundee’s Sam Dalby is on loan from Wrexham and has 3 more goals than him. You have to factor in the standard.

I think Rangers paid £3m in the summer, you might be interested in around that figure but they’re taking the proverbial asking £20m.

Nah not £20m but that looks his got something about him though.

He is not ready for the premier league so I wouldn’t be bidding on him but keeping tabs on how he progresses.

Not sure about the other lad but this lad has started that many games for them either so all in all it’s decent.

But no not ready yet

Suppose if DCL is on a free then he may still be worth it at a high wage. Each 50k in weekly wage is 2.6m a year.

So do you spend 15m on a striker who will take 70k - or spend that transfer on 120k a week for a 'free' player ? Both deals end up being in the same ball park.

Depends whether you think it's a case of "better the devil you know" or whether you're the type to roll the dice. Honestly I'd probably keep him as his hold up play is excellent and with better wingers he could kick on next season. But that's mainly because I'm not confident we could get a striker who'd actually improve us, like a Delap.

There has already been numerous reports we won't be taking up the option to extend his contract and I highly doubt he is going to take a reduction in wages as it would need to be a fairly substantial one.

I'm fairly hopeful his pride will get in the way of accepting a lower wage, especially as his mate Gana won't be getting a wage reduction. His pride may see him leave on a free, which is fine by me.

You think people would learn from the O'Brien situation just because a player is lsnt first choice for manager it's a definitive indicator that someone isn't good , I don't know enough about the striker from rangers to state an opinion on his quality but the mentality dictating someone's merit without actually using a metric that involves his ability on the pitch is odd and counterproductive to me

City have played 4 CB for years. Better stability. Better on ball. It's hardly era defining if we did too. I'm all for it. Could have this back four.

O'Brien Tarky Keane Branthwaite.

Like the prospect 😁

Fat Sam and Dyche were pioneers of playing 10cb’s but lost their jobs before they could achieve “ greatness”

If we want a stronger squad, then that also includes the bench. That's just my opinion. I think we need someone to challenge Pickford
I think it's one of them where we have a few proven average quality goalkeepers in backup, and much higher priorities elsewhere in the squad. Pickford still has years ahead of him - he's only 31 now - so we don't need to be bringing in a top class youngster with a view to replacing him. But seeing as both Virginia and Begovic are out of contract this summer, maybe the club could look at bringing in a bit of stronger competition to push Pickford on even more, rather than simply extending both of their deals.

That's my point. I think with those that are out of contract need to move on now, and we should go for someone who's much younger with a potential high ceiling. He definitely needs competition imo

I'd love that to be fair.

Virginia should want to leave and try and be a number one elsewhere, which he could easily do if he dropped to the Championship or moved abroad, and it's time for Begovic to retire.
