2024/25 Idrissa Gueye

He definitely wasn’t as good a footballer the first time around.

It’s like he knows he’s our best player now and demands to have the ball constantly.

He’s brilliant.
Two seasons carrying Messi at PSG is showing.
That said, totally disagree with your first statement - he was a top player first time round which is a) why PSG bought him, and b) why why struggled so much to replace him.

He's one of our best players this century. He might even be the best. It's certainly worth considering. I'll just always love him and what he's done. I think with a little more luck he goes down as one of the best ball winners ever full stop. For me he is, but circumstances and team success will never have him seen as such generally. Phenomenal player.
A bit over the top but fully agree with the sentiment….he's massively underrated. We struggled to replace him when he went to carry Messi for a few seasons. At the time Man City were losing Fernandes in midfield I thought Pep should have snapped him up….brilliant ball winner. We call him the insurance man.

A credit to the shirt and to men in their mid-thirties..! Just can’t say how delighted I am to have him at the club and yet gutted that the clock is ticking as to how much longer he will be here.

The importance of a top player in this position is undeniable. No frills, little in the way of ego and with a work ethic that few other positions demand.

Look at what’s happened to City without Rodri or Leicester without Kante For example.

Did anyone see how much he was fuming at Jack Harrison 2nd half. Gueye was completely free, asked for the throw in to be passed to him and Harrison threw it 20 yards backwards. Gueye just looked at him, shook his arms in despair as if to say "wtf are you doing".
To be fair the entire team should constantly be fuming at that little beaut as well as Donkey Doucs!
