Running

I've the Belfast Craic 10k on Monday (St Patricks Day)

Not run a 10k in race colours since May 2023. Looking forward to it. I've been able to recover very quickly from running the distance but I've been running it in an hour. Usually it would be 52-53m for a faster 10k by me. But after a long period out then only running 5ks, I'll be happy with a finish.

Boss mate, enjoy every minute

Anybody doing the half on Sunday? It'll be my first, bit worried about the Upper Parliament Street climb. Still I've managed a few decent distances in recent weeks including an 18k on Friday, my legs were in bits on Saturday though.

Don`t worry about it mate.

With it being your first one, it`ll be all about the experience and the day out.

It`ll only be the elite and very fit runners who run up all of that hill, so my advice would be to make peace with yourself and accept that you`re going to jog / walk up it, like the vast majority of runners ;)

( There`s absolutely no shame in walking and in fact it`s quite often built into training plans - the most famous being Galloway (

I know I'm probably teaching my Granny how to suck eggs here but.....remember when running a hill to pump your arms harden than normal. It helps your lungs expand more because of the expansion of the chest cavity, enabling you to conquer the hill easier.

Best of luck to you though.

I got the Belfast 10k Craic done yesterday. Very nice race that though peoples obsession with cutting corners will never cease to amaze me. I got the 10k finished in 56m which was 4m quicker than I was expecting. My PB is very safe for now but it was nice to be just back racing in a longer distance than 5k for my running club again. Certainly I'll think of doing a few more 10ks this year now as a result.

Iā€™m doing the 10 miler. How bad is the hill? Iā€™ve only ever driven up it

My marathon training is going ok , basically on track . I set off for an 18 miler last Sunday with 2 miles easy + 14 miles at marathon pace 2miles easy. When I got to 17 miles I thought Iā€™d go for it and add on another 2 easy miles to make it to 20 . While pleased with completing that itā€™s taken a bit out of my legs this week ,

Sounds like youā€™re well on track šŸ‘

Whatā€™s your target Marathon time?
