New Everton Stadium

Probably been discussed before but what do people think about the type of fan that is going to start going to the new Stadium?

I know quite a few Man City fans who have been complaining about tourist fans, and seem to be unhappy with how the club are selling tickets for this expanded stand.

Obviously we haven't got the current/recent success to attract "tourist" fans and maybe i'm being naive but I feel like our support will largely stay very similar and authentic in line with how it is at Goodison. E.g fans who have supported us for years for whatever reason through the good and the bad, and younger fans who have inherited the club from family members.

I don't see us being the same as West Ham, Spurs, Man City or Arsenal in that regard. Their ground moves all have elements that have attracted the "tourist" fans in a way I don't think ours will.

If we became successful I imagine that would change.

Hopefully it gives tourists like me a better chance of getting a ticket! Couldn’t get one for the few games I could travel to this yr and have been a member for 4 yrs.
But I’d say it definitely would attract tourist fans (I.e. non Everton football fans). It’s a lively city and a spanking brand new stadium make it a very attractive option for the casual football tourist which I think is a growing market. Just don’t think there’ll be many available tickets!

The removal of the marginally obstructed view seats might suggest otherwise. ;)
They weren't removed though where they, we've been over this. There were no seats ever installed at either location.

You can point to what was shown on the planning drawings all you want, but in the context of seat provision those layouts are largely immaterial. It's what is built that counts.

Will we have the same conversation if the two sections in the AWAY end are also not obstructed with it now being confirmed as safe standing? What will the argument be then? "Well if they sit down they can't see" 🤷‍♂️

Well, if the fans sit down anywhere in the safe standing area they're going to have an issue seeing the pitch ;)

It wasn't meant in a derogatory way towards our own fans by the way. I'm talking about the types that have little interest in our club and turn up taking selfies and making them signs asking for the players shirts. Just don't see that happening as we are not glamorous enough  (but I accept it would do if we became good again).

When I went to the new Spurs stadium, I was stunned by how many South Korean fans there were because of Son. It's not necesarily a bad thing to have those fans as it shows a club has high profile, high quality players but my frustration would then be if those fans deserted the club when the player left which they inevitably would. Need a balance I suppose.

I think Man City have managed to mostly keep their core support in their away fanbase but it has changed massively with their home matchgoing support.
