2024/25 David Moyes

Moyes likely see’s out next season, stabilises us maybe top half…but he won’t get you where you want to be…one trophy with West ham is not enough evidence to show he’s a top manager
That’s probably why he was given a 2.5 year contract then isn’t it?

He is a very good manager. Best we have had in 20 years.

He will get us stable. That isn’t a 6 month job, as we are still working through psr issues. At the end of 1.5 years, after he has stabilised us and maybe gets us top half, then he gets the next season to see if he can start to progress.

Think a lot of people forget just how bad we were before he came in and seem to forget just how many years we have been an absolute shambles for.

We have nothing to play for, we have multiple players out of contract, I think just getting results is enough at this point.

A damp squib end to the season, Moyes and more importantly the players gave everything to give us this feet up run in.

Sure, lots of draws, but our attacking output has been poor recently.

I dunno what people expect, narrow defeat to The Champions, a decent draw against the team in 2nd place today, its not Champagne football, its just a tired group of players with 1 eye on the Summer.

So, again, I dunno what people expect.

Moyes is a victim of his own success.
So we should be complacent. IMO we should be looking to win games. I was responding to your comment. Doucore does not help us win atm. He should be dropped. That is not an almighty indictment on Moise. It is a criticism of one of his decisions. It is not all encompassing. Even if somebody is doing fine, you can criticize them. Respectfully.

Didn't Moyes say he'd only go the new stadium after it was mathematically certain Everton are safe, but now he's going this week?

Underlines that he could have been down there weeks ago.

Results aren’t really important in my opinion.

Performences with a limited team are good we’re competitive and we can + some places for some extra prize money - it’s not mission critical.

The great boon in the remaining games is continuing to inbed a culture, raise standards, put systems in place and advance plan for next season.

We have an opportunity now to give lads like Patterson, Broja, Chermitti and Charly games and an opportunity now to the, let them show they are worthy of a career here.

All of the above are now the priority for me rather than results if I’m honest.

Yes and no. I do think we should get a look at other players. Definitely. Moise needs to prove he can rotate and we need to learn about what kind of team we will be going into next year with. However, league position is important in terms of prize money. Every position up helps. A win really threads the needle. If we continue this trend of drawing five games in a row next season, we will probably struggle to compete for anything. 6 points in 6 or 6 points in 2 games. There is a massive difference. Doucore is clearly past it. There are other players that may help us win games. He is too inconsistent for me at this point. If he had been taken off in the United game in the 2nd half when he was clearly struggling, we probably waltz out of that with a win. He still has decent moments here and there. He is gone next year and we may have better options available. Play for the future and win games. Have your cake and eat it too.

DOF model is going by the way side. The team who are about to walk the league do not have a single DOF. They have a transfer committee, which we are about to have as of next season. The manager is part of the committee.
It’s the same concept mate, have the final say with someone who isn’t getting sacked if they have a bad 10 game run and as such someone who will give one about what’s going to happen in 3 years or so.

The point is the manager should have input, not control.

I dont offer him the low bar some do.

The context was the all important thing: a depleted Arsenal team on the eve of their biggest game of the season and at Goodison made that a very winnable game for an Everton team in decent form.

Moyes does this to fans: dumbs them down to accept a point against a 'top' team at home.

You and others are under that spell again.

Not me...and many others besides.
Good god you’re past boring now. More than happy to accept a relegation battle with Dyche and so sure no one else could manage it. Moyes actually pulls is out of the relegation battle and now we’re the ones accepting mediocrity because we took a point from Arsenal? Sure.

He literally did better than arguably the best manager of all time! A lot of people will play down Moyes while bigging up the latest flavour of the month. Iraola was the latest, but he’s been struggling of late.

West Ham thought they could do better than Moyes when he had them top six at the end of December last season. Look how that has turned out for them.
