Jesus Christ @Kev The Rat You can't enjoy the moment, can You? Please learn: Besic is a defender minded player with INSTRUCTIONS to defend whilst Gibson is an attacking minded with INSTRUCTIONS to attack. And to mention he was poor today alas the few good balls. McCarthy was way better than him. And just please enjoy the win.

Besic is a player who takes too long on the ball at the moment. He's a good "game killer" where you need someone to nip in and bite at the opposition midfield, as well as being a reliable player to give it too, knowing he's going to retain possession with a five yard pass.

If Besic had started today, we wouldn't have had the dynamism we had from Gibson and McCarthy, and I think that's a fair point to make.

I will bet my cock he puts Barry straight back in, even after that looking like a proper functioning team for a change.

I concur. After an assured 0-0 draw in Kiev and a 2-0 win at QPR, Berto will have Barry straight back in - stick Barkley and Nais on the wing in a weird 4-3-3 kind of thing. We'll be hammered and back to square one.

Roberto, if you're reading this, DO NOT EVER play Barry.... unless McCarthy, Besic, Gibson, Osman, Barkley, me and me ma are all dead.

Why bring Negative moments into a positive moment, we have had enough (rightfully) to moan about this season, this is just a good day. so quit it, there is simply no need.
I believe that Besic was the source of much of our malaise in the last couple of months with his negative passing and slowing down the tempo

We would have played well with Barry in the team today. The mindset was right - we played off the strikers instead of retaining possession in midfield and going sideways.

Barry has been an unfair scapegoat due to the way we have played, which has allowed teams to take advantage of his lack of mobility. In a confident side playing further up the pitch, Barry is an asset.
McCarthy can't raid forward when he has to sit and babysit Barry, that was a big difference today, McCarthy had a great influence on the game and more freedom.

Agree with this. He's good when he functions as a sort of 3d centre back when the fullbacks press up the pitch. He's poor when asked to do a lot of running and be a CM

He can - in fact, he can do so more. The way we looked vulnerable late in the first half was precisely because McCarthy and Gibson ran out of gas and they got a foothold in that area of the pitch - Barry closes that sort of possession down when the team are pressed on beyond him, as he reads the play well and covers the full backs.

Lads, we've won a game today and besic wasn't playing. That is proof that he is absolutely rubbish, and so are all other players who didn't star in this victory.

Yeah, that is. That's why I wasn't surprised he didn't start, it was a good move from RM. But I can't stand when Kev tries to blame tactics and poor starting XI choices on certain players. He's useful in a different mindset for example against Kiev away. But he just hates him and I can't stand that. Every player is useful just got to find the right moment.

I thought Coleman and McCarthy were almost taking it in turns to get forward today, which explained why Coleman was missing on the wing at times. he was returning the 'sitting in' favour to let Jamesey charge forward.
Then again Jamesey could simply have been charging forward because there were times Coleman looked as if he couldn't be arsed.
