Anyone listening to 5Live, they were interviewing Marinez and not the producer or 606 hosts, but the interviewer said we will have to cut you short Roberto as we have LVG waiting, what an utter disgrace
Even when they are utter Shiite and they are they will always be more important than us, media are desperate for them to be the top team again... Can't wait for them to come here we will spank them, they need a complete overhaul top to bottom it will cost them£500 million

Well in

I thought Coleman and McCarthy were almost taking it in turns to get forward today, which explained why Coleman was missing on the wing at times. he was returning the 'sitting in' favour to let Jamesey charge forward.
Then again Jamesey could simply have been charging forward because there were times Coleman looked as if he couldn't be arsed.

....pre-game I asked for 'purpose' and got 'purpose'. The point you make about McCarthy breaking forward is an illustration of that. He normally gets a nose bleed if he crosses the half way line but was clearly given licence today. He played well MCCarthy.

Besic is a player who takes too long on the ball at the moment. He's a good "game killer" where you need someone to nip in and bite at the opposition midfield, as well as being a reliable player to give it too, knowing he's going to retain possession with a five yard pass.

If Besic had started today, we wouldn't have had the dynamism we had from Gibson and McCarthy, and I think that's a fair point to make.
Because there's no way of proving that. It's an attack on a player that barely played. In the past we've seen Besic play far more forward passes than McCarthy.

With that in mind I don't think our win today was due to Naismith and Barry not playing either.

Rom played well and drove the whole team on, we played with more urgency after the Europa League result, the luck in the game went our way and Newcastle where awful. That's why we won easily.

Hopefully that's the case and Martinez has tweaked his system so that it's not so easy to shutdown by stopping the fullbacks.

However I doubt that was the reason and just a coincidence although I do remember Gibson being forward a lot on the left and Baines staying back.

my point was that he could actually break forward because Coleman was hanging back more often. It looks like a more two sided arrangement today rather than the usual McCarthy just covering for Coleman.
It gives us just a bit more variation, stops us being as predictable as we were.
Also goes to show what I've been saying since he joined, that he does have it in his locker to maraud forward is Bobby allows him, which many on here have laughed at.

Of course there's no way of proving that - it's an opinion!

It's not the direction of the pass that is the problem with Besic, it's the time he takes to do it, but he'll quicken that up with experience as he gets used to the league - he's only a few months on from playing in Hungary after all.

Gibson was awesome today. Everything. Passing. Tackling. Getting into the refs face. Giving the scorers a firm grab of the shirt and a headbutt.

Love him
Big decision on whether he plays against Kiev. Although I want to see Barkley play especially after his goal and general play today and Barry never gets dropped.

I do think that's the 'tweak' that's made us less predictable.

Just a random thought. (Mods seem to have a quieter time when we win).

Is that the 3 youngest different goal scorers in one match for us, for, like ages? 20, 21, and 23, or close to that.

Operation Yewtree, Chico and possible Bungle all very interested in your observation. ;)
