Qualifying for the top four was seen as the objective for many a year under Moyes, now everyone is saying things like finishing 8th would be great, even Stoke fans are expecting more than us these days.
The profile of Stoke on GOT has risen remarkably the past few months.

Here's how it is...

1) A team can get to the point where they need a terrible season to not make top 4 (Arsenal, United, City and Chelsea now). You need a lot of money to do that because it's about consistency and squad depth.

2) Without money, a team CAN get to the point where they can do the opposite - have a particularly good season and make top 4. We nearly did it last year. You need a lot of things to go right, but it's doable.

The second thing can happen to us, but we'd need the stars to align in a lot of ways (mostly: luck with injuries, players all hitting form, and Martinez being on point). The first thing can only happen if the second thing happens multiple years in a row which is even more hugely unlikely.

I'd rather want him to lead us to a cup win. Fight for Europa League each year and some serious cup runs would be everything I could wish for.

Seeing Everton captain lifting a trophy is a dream. I really don't care about Champions League footy - with a bag of money from Sky is not that relevant. Spurs didn't get a massive profit from their episodes in CL, did they?

Of course it would be great to see competitve Everton (in the league), but if we won't sell ourselves (and I don't want us to do so), we won't be a constant challengers.
