There's alot of revisionism going on here. Maybe your red friend says that now he's being treated to Klopp football, but I don't remember many reds with their heads in their hands back in the day. They were all mostly delighted.

er, no. He went to China cos it was an easy way out of Newcastle and for huge financial gain. In all his jobs he's been totally committed. Look, we've had Koeman and Ancelotti, they would be leaving FF at 4.30 at the latest, Benitez won't be doing that.
Why would he want an easy way out of a club if he is fully committed? Doesn't that contradict what you are trying to portray him as? He wanted out of a club because he fell out with yet another owner who wouldn't just give him what he wanted. Massive financial gain, again that's not commitment is it, its greed and/or mercenary like. He is an Egotistical tit who will be turfed out within a year here

if we were in pretty good shape, and had a good list of likely candidates, I'd agree it would be more trouble than it's worth maybe. But we are in dire straits, and he is the outstanding candidate.
I agree we are not in the top 4 in respect of reputation but we do have resources . We have a good owner with some good connections and we have some very good players .
We are not as dire as the Rafael worshippers would like to we are .
It's not even that's he's an ex RS ( I'll have Shankly's ghost over Rafael , R.I.P you fine , fine socialist ) but it's the fact that his legacy is that one CL final years many years ago .
He failed at every job since apart from maybe Newcastle but they were desperate for anyone who had any football knowledge after years of mismanagement and crap owners .
His brand of football makes Moyesball look South American .
And my final petty point , his smug face .

If we do appoint someone half decent and not Benitez the vibe in here will be so good and we’ll all be happy to have been played by the media spin of ‘it’ll be this awful guy - actually it’s not, aren’t you happy?’
Wont happen as who ever gets the job people will moan, second rate manager , what's he ever won , done, plays defensive football, will be gone in 12-18 months , people just love to moan and hope for brownie points if they are proved right

well I can only deduce that any concerns he had about style of play were more than overcome by the success of the team.
Lets go over his success at Liverpool then. CL winners (with Houillers team), FA cup winners the season after, then nothing for the next 4 years

You know what, if you can't see what a disastrous appointment this would be, I despair.

Have zero expectations.

I'm at the point now that...we ain't going to be successful any time soon, the squad is too much of a mess and be worse by the time next season starts.

We ain't going to be relegated as we're not that lacking or in a mess boardroom level.

Anyone who comes in isn't going to get success out of the club for a number of years. And I do mean anyone. If Carlo couldn't get a tune out of them consistently and buggered off before he could progress...no one can persuade me they'll come in and do a better job unless they get 2 full seasons minimum,

If Rafael gets it and is sacked after 6 months what changes? Nothing. We're in the same position now. It's not like he'd come in and relegate or fold the club so I'm completely apathetic about it all.

More people seem worried about how it looks and getting some serious banter off the murderers next door. Couldn't give a monkeys what they did or think.

I'd say getting to another CL final was pretty successful to be fair. And look at the team he built. They were a whisker away from overhauling united.

No he isn’t, there are others out there looking to invest in football.
Moshiri needs to wake up to the fact that he’s completely naused up from the day he bought in.
Failed to bring in a new board…
Failed with multiple managerial selections…
Wasted a third world debt in allowing humungous amounts of money to be splashed on crazy wages for largely bang average players…
Overseen and agreed the sale of Barkley, Stones and Lukaku, the best goal scorer we’d had in over 20 years !!!
And has talked drivel about voodoo.
And still there’s no funding in place for the stadium project

It's a tough one with Moshiri.

He has not been a success so far but he has not really been a failure either.

He has backed his managers by and large, they have just bought in crap. He has made a smart step getting a DOF in yet has not let him have much of a say.

Realistically he has been a bit unlucky. All this goes out the window if he brings Benitez (or indeed Martinez) in though. If he does that he is a obviously too stupid to realize what he is doing.

i'm not sure many geordies would agree with your description of what happened up there.

Many geordies also wouldnt have him back as his football was dire. Their love of him was because he supposedly stood up to Ashley and stayed with them when relegated, not because of the football.
