Deulofeu could pick a through ball out to though. He had a run where he just kept on putting them on a plate for Lukaku.

That's a lot of words mate but he was woeful today and his attitude stunk. Off the ball/away from the TV cameras he didn't want to know. Give up on a number of occasions.

...a stick to hit a player with people don't like - happened with Geri on here and Richy too.. oh and DCL when he didn't sign a contract, and Lukaku, and literally every player that's now deemed the one its cool to not like. Funny thing though, the exact same glad to see him subbed stuff was...

Maybe he'll be the opposite of Lukaku and get boss after cutting his hair

I remember the old Moyes boys unilaterally “going back to basics” when Martinez and his gash tactics had the club in free fall.

Ah, yes because i remember Yakubu running the channels all those times...oh wait Only time yak ran was to celebrate a goal.

...success relied upon a defence moyes built. When it all went full Martinez was when it went wrong and id love to see a moyes side with prime lukaku like martinez had. Doubt wed of been hanging round 11th like Martinez had us. Yeah, look at where west ham were before moyes, look where he took...

Ok so any good result under martinez was because the "top 4" where weaker, and the team martinez built would have been better wiry moyes, just because? Fair enough, have to agree to disagree, that first season under martinez was my favourite in my lifetime.

...stronger and we held our own against an absolutely stacked Chelsea team. Arsenal occasionally hammered us for some reason. Again, Martinez had a much stronger squad. He added Lukaku, Barry, McCarthy and Delofeulo and only lost Fellaini. Our leading scorer the year before was Fellaini with 11.

Yet he didn't do that with Yakubu who scored goals for fun under him.

Not so sure. I think Moyes generally tried to play to the strengths of the players at his disposal. Whilst people say he was defensive minded I think he just built from the foundation of being a functioning unit, strong defensively and working as a team to get the best out of what we had. We had...

We also got 9 more points, beat United away for the first time in my life time, absolutely battered arsenal at home.

Give Lukaku to Moyes and he'd make him run the channels, he'd tell him Goodison loves a player who runs all day long even if they don't score goals.

We scored 6 more goals than the year before. Martinez achieved slightly more than the year before with a significantly better squad. Give Lukaku to Moyes and we finish 4th year in year out.

Bit harsh that tbh Defence aside that was a martinez team and the football was quality. Wasn't just Barry and lukaku, maccarthy was great, barkley went from the odd minutes under moyes to one of the best youngsters in the league

Martinez lucked out because he inherited Moyes structure and unbelievably managed to get Lukaku and Barry for nothing. Moyes would have got us 4th that year no problem. Do you remember how bad we were before Moyes?

We scored an extra 6 goals compared to the season before despite adding Lukaku. We passed it around at the back more that’s for sure but I don’t remember us handing out too many hidings. We also scored a crazy number of free kicks that year for some reason.

Moyes football was extremely boring, pragmatic, until this last couple of years. He got turfed out of West Ham for the same thing despite winning them a trophy and keeping them a competitive top 8 side. Martinez didn't "luck out" he's always had an eye for attacking talent even at Wigan. His...

We need to stop blaming managers for not getting the best out of rubbish players and just back them with good players. Lukaku Mirallas Barkley in 2014 was a very good attack for any manager to have. Stones is a top CB under any manager, James obviously. Branthwaite looks to be similar. A lot...

‘Without doubt’ Moyes was a graveyard for strikers - discuss. I loved him when he was here, I don’t want him back.
