I know price-tags matter but there also has to be a recognition of short-term V long-term when it comes to signings. What does £30m get you in the short-term market?
He may, I'd prefer he didn't. Someone like Gibbs-White cost similar and, while he may be ready more quickly, I think Onana has a higher ceiling and be the better investment.
Obviously all these things are just predictions.
I guess McNeil was bought to play now, but then I was never a huge fan of that signing, whereas I could easily imagine the plan for Onana was to get other reinforcements and ease him in with the view that he'd be a huge asset with time.
And useless players have been bought by many teams for a lot more, if you're aware of the club owning a hindsight device you should let them know where it's stored.
I guess that depends on how you view the possible ceiling potential of McNeil and Onana.
When I say immediacy I mean about Onana starting for the first few months, he could be a viable starter after a few months and subsequently, but I don't want to throw any more points away by not having an...
He's just turned 21 after 11 starts in a new league last year and now he's in a new league again, what we've spent is clearly on potential not immediacy.
I know the Gana thing has dragged on annoyingly long but I genuinely think he could be a huge addition this year, I'd personally prefer 4 at the back but even with a 3 we need someone to break things up and stop teams controlling us in the middle.
Onana shows flashes but he's not really an...
The problem is that now they've got the ridiculous Antony money they have every incentive to play hard-ball unless they think Kudus will become particularly toxic.
I'm pretty sure he's a lock for the Ghanaian squad so they may think even if only sporadically appears for Ajax he's not going to...
Everyone saying we should conduct our transfer business like Brentford and Brighton and yet still complain when we get someone who both clubs signed...
He's reasonable squad depth and decent enough so, if the price is reasonable, I don't hate it.
