£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

Swansea have said for 3 weeks now the price is 50 million,And in fairness to them that's what they want...

In their eyes if we've got 45mil to spend we've obviously got the 50 they are asking,So even if you think he's worth it or not its Everton that are pissing round.

Do clubs actually discuss these things with each other? If we spoke to them and discussed a fee then we could agree and offer what is agreed!
Or do they not speak, just keep sending offers by fax or email and get a reply when someone reads it?
Can't believe it happens like the latter.

Sorry, £50m is ridiculous. He's not a world-beater, and his resale value will only go down.
Better we keep our money and target other players. Don't tell me there isn't better value out there.. £50m will get you 99% of midfielders in europe.

Mate, we aren't signing targets of any team in the CL, that's part of the problem.

So 50m won't get you 99% of midfielders in europe at all.

Not that I condone it, as it's not nice for his current club, but I would fully expect him to put a transfer request in now. He's already bailed on their pre season tour, he's obviously had his head turned by Everton/Koeman. And lets be honest, he'd be mad not to, either another season struggling against the drop or come and be the lynchpin of a hopefully genuinely exciting project.

I expect he will put a transfer request in.

That is what this is about now.

Having refused to go to the USA it is obvious that he will move. Same thing is happening with VVD. Players have a lot of power these days even when they have long contracts. Shame for the fans who idolize them but we have been on the receiving end enough times.

At least Gylfi hasn't belittled Swansea every chance he gets like our old Belgian bell did to us.

I think Gylfi did the honourable part by not handing in the transfer request since he rejected to get on the plane to US. He decided to let Everton made two fair bids to strike the deal. Now Swansea made zero concession he really must act now.

The thing about this is that if say Arsenal or Spurs bid £35m for him, he would have been allowed to leave 10 days ago.

IMO a huge part of this turning into a saga is the "Who the hell do Everton think they are" attitude in the Swans boardroom. Something that is likely replicated at many other clubs this summer.

We can pay up and show we "mean business" but as I see it it's more a test of what alternatives we have to consider and pursuing them now.

We need more additions and it's important the money earmarked for Sigurdsson gets invested in the team this summer rather than reinvested in the accounts. How they accomplish that is Everton's issue. I wouldn't give another inch to Swansea though.
