£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

As long as he scores 20 and has 30 assists mate I don't think any one of us will be on his back

Sadly, I don't believe that for a second.

Not aimed at anyone in particular, but there just seem to be some people who will try as hard as they can to be disappointed. "His English isn't good enough in the post match interviews. It's deplorable!" etc.

A little update from my friend at Swansea last night, the deal is on, talks progressed yesterday afternoon (no surprises!). The interesting part is that they enquired about James McCarthy as part of a deal. They have also gone and bid for the midfielder we were after in France (Seri?) in the last day so they are already starting to spend the money.
@orly
I could definitely cope with £30m + McCarthy.

Gylfi is what he is.

If people give him stick because of his transfer fee that is ludicrous.

If he turns out to be the same player I've watched over the last 5-10 years he'll be a hard working, neat and tidy footballer who takes a good set piece. He is reasonably versatile in that he created chances as a left sided forward last year and as a number 10 3 seasons ago. He adapted to big changes in the style of play of his team, from the pass heavy system where he touched the ball 40 times a game with good ball retention, to the more direct approach where he touched the ball 25 times a game with poor ball retention. He seems to be fit and has been consistently available for selection.

At almost 28 he is right at the top of the peak of his game. He is a high floor, low ceiling player. You know what you'll get.

Personally (and you might have picked this up from previous posts) I think this whole transfer is ridiculous. Where will he even play in our team? What problem does he solve? Why the obsession from RK/Walsh on signing him and only him? What about the far more significant issue of replacing Lukaku/Barkley - the main sources of our goals and open play creativity for the past 4 years?

That price is a bit salty for essentially a decent set piece, not exactly the type we need from open play but I live in hope he surprises me at that side of things
