£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

The problem they'll have though is trying to replace Sigurdsson because he was probably the main reason they stayed up last season. So is spending £50m on 3/4 average players going to replace what he brings to the team for them.

When there's as many holes in the squad as Swansea has and the average level is so poor, yes. Relying on one player every season to plonk a certain amount of balls on the big man up front's head isn't a good longterm strategy

We'll have to agree to disagree mate because replacing your best player with a few average players (£50m won't get them much) to fill gaps doesn't make sense to me.

Fair dos. I just reckon in the long term it makes more sense to me. To be fair for me it's a lot about their goal being to avoid relegation - ie, it's more important to try and not be really bad, than it is to try and be really good...if that makes any sense at all ;)

Isn't that what we are doing but just on a bigger scale.

We are losing our two best attackers and replacing them with inferior players but with an idea that overall the team will be strengthened?

Bang average? You dont watch football do you?

Think he is top end age wise and been good in a poor side, sooner keep Barklay. I dont see the top 4 clubs chasing his signature either, could be wrong though United Spurs may come in and gazump us with a `55 million bid` ...... then again they may still be picking themselves up off the floor laughing saying `how much`........
