Surely they must have agreed a deal in principle by now and are still haggling over the payment structure?

It's encouraging though that Paul Joyce says it's close. Surely they can close this out by Tuesday at the latest.

I wonder if the Americans purposely want this stretched out as long as possible to avoid spending the money?
Good point. Or alternatively Everton are waiting until Swansea are desperate for the sale to fund signings and accordingly accept less than the media quoted £50m.

It just all seems like male egos arguing over who has the biggest one.

tbf to McNulty whatever his role in the firing of Royle - and it was significant - he is a blue through and through. His credentials on that score are not in question.
He's one of those "Merseyside" types...at best...he bends over backwards to be fair to Liverpool.

I reckon you are onto something here. Sigs has, over numerous windows, declared his loyalty to Swansea. He earns more in a fortnight than most of us do in a year. He has a beautiful missus who, being Icelandic, is 'adventurous' (I've spent time in Iceland).
He's happy at Swansea and they want to retain him.
We should move on (and should've weeks ago). There are much better players available, for the price, than him.
Uh, he told them he wanted to move to Everton. He didn't even participate in their preseason trip. He wants the move as do we. Swans are even resigned to it. It's just a matter of fees.

There must be a fair amount of ill will building on both sides by now to the effect that this doesn't get done at all. We are really screwing up Swanseas prep for the new season.
No bad thing in my view, 50m is crazy money, I'm sure we could do better

But didn't he sign a 4 year contract last year, and rejected all 'advances'?

Royle wasnt sacked, stop peddling lies, he resigned because of situation with Peter Johnson, saying that I can imagine you not having a bad word to say about PJ

He was pushed through the door because he wasn't backed and Johnson was determined to oust him from his post.....with a large dollop of help from rat face McNulty:

Joe Royle's words in his biography:

"The Echo had started what I could only describe as an anti-Joe Royle campaign. When our results dipped badly in the New Year, the criticism, particularly from the paper's sports editor Phil McNulty, grew ever more vicious....it appeared he wanted to wage a war of words on me....In my view McNulty and his paper were nothing but destructive in a series of carping, critical articles...as the whistle blew on our FA Cup defeat by Bradford McNulty stood up in the Goodison press box raised his arms and shouted triumphantly "vindicated!" - Joe Royle, The Autobiography. pp.123/4
