The Neymar example doesn't really work in the context you're using it as it's actually the exact opposite of what you're trying to suggest. Neymar is living proof that if you offer someone enough money they'll sign a contract, even when the club is clearly not as successful/famous. That's what a sugar daddy does for you, and you've just proved my point for me. Cheers.

Neymar wanted to leave to establish himself as the worlds greatest, away from the shadow of Ronaldo and Messi in Spain. Lukaku and Stones both thought they were bigger and better than Everton, adn no amount of money would have kept them here

Why on earth didn`t we just move on and sign someone else? 50 million could have been spent elsewere
smacks of ` well we tried are best` when the window slams shut` and we have **invested 7 million in the team

**Bought a sought after young Centre Half, a well respected young goalkeeper, an ex Barcelona Centre Forward, a player who has increased our marketability 5 fold, a number of players with exciting futures. Sold Lukaku.

C'mon Tim, you have no idea what's involved in these negotiations, all this Bill saving £50 is boring. Nobody has any idea what's been going on behind the scenes, we've got our 4 main targets in, plus loads for the development group.

We've done really well, let it play out

I'm happy with our signings but the striker situation needs to be sorted by the 31st. If we haven't a proper striker who can link the play, occupy defenders, and above all stick the ball in the net, then we will struggle to improve on last year. If our first few games weren't so flipping tough it would be less of a concern but we really could do with a couple of good early results.

Oh I dont know, it was clear they wanted Champions League we had a fanfare of a new owner (49%) stadium (gone quiet) and lots of investment in the team (sell to buy) perhaps they just saw through things like others are beggining to do

Hear Swansea want £50m up front + Connelly + 15% of any sell on fee.
If this is anything like near the truth then surely to god, we have to just walk away, he is not a £50m player to start with. Please Everton bin this off and look at the other deals you must have in the pipeline. We must not let a club like Swansea hold us to ransom at any point!

Sandro 5 million?

Understand the concept (and this was the reason for Walsh's employment surely?) but he's unproven in the prem still. Looks a player and hopefully will be a bargain but not sure he'll ever be in the Lukaku bracket.
