£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

Why would we ever agree to 45 mill up front if we don't have it?

They could have been expecting a bid for other players to have come in that hasn't yet.

They could have seen a more recent set of estimates for the Stadium project.

They could be doing what Kenwright's been rumored to have done many times before and tried to change the terms of the deal because they felt they had the leverage at that time.

I don't know if it will.

Like me, I'm sure folk want the player but are a little shocked at the size of the fee thrown around. I'll be glad if it happens but I won't cry over this one as I'm still not sure there's much point to him without a target man to supply.

That said, The Telegraph have run a story that is more than plausible. We've been known to renege on agreed deals and try to renegotiate before.
Doubt it. This was a tricky deal already without Everton trying to make things worse.

We may have changed our position but it doesn't mean we don't have 45 up front and need to sell
Barkley was never going to leave till the last day

Just move on. Fair play to Swansea they're holding out and rightly so he's on a long term contract. If happily try and persuade ross into a signing a new deal and use the money for another striker/cb

The most possible reason is Barkley to sign a new contract. Actually, I think we better to give more salaries to Barkley rather than 50m to Sig.
The remaining fee we can buy a better CF and CB.

If this does collapse fully I suspect it'll negatively impact them more than us. We've planned the whole pre-season without him; he'll be nowhere near ready to start their campaign this weekend and without him they're dreadful.
