£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

We overpaid on bolasie which makes not overpaying on Siguurdson all the more baffling.
The way it was reported on Sky last night didn't show us in a good light by saying the deal was almost done and we pulled the plug by offering the original £40 million, something certainly doesn't seem right after 3 weeks of negotiations.

This is getting quite tedious now, something not quite right here.

No reason this deal should not have been done, Clement practically admitting weeks ago he was out of the door.

Not looking great, but hopefully just waiting to announce any time now.

I wonder if a prelim medical has been done and something has been found, hence the going back to the original £40m (if true)

I'm getting the distinct impression that there are elements within the media who would like to see this deal for Sigurdsson collapse - and whilst I'm not claiming to be ITK, I feel that irrespective of whatever has been the cause of it not coming to fruition as yet, I am certain in my own mind it will happen before the end of the transfer deadline.

It's possible that the higher bid was made on the proviso that the deal was done before the date for player registration for the next round of the Europa League. Once that had passed - which it now has - we would revert to the original £40 million bid. I'm guessing that the revelation that we've now gone back to our original bid has come from the Swansea end, which would tie in with this. I think the ball is firmly in Swansea's court on this, if they want to sell, fine, if not we move on.

My ma's on holiday with my sister in Melbourne at the present. She's quite elderly (85), but still has a huge zest for life in her. She's discovered Whatsapp, and every 10 minutes my phone pings with one of her incoming messages telling me what's she's doing, sending photos etc...quite cute really.

Nothing cute about Melbourne mate, too many Walkers and far too cold
