The thing I keep thinking about is what it would be like to be a fan of a club where I am content with the direction of it.
I find myself listening to every Everton podcast and youtube channel going this year because I am so disillusioned with things and I want to hear other fans' perspectives or the latest news in the hope that I will see a glimmer of change.
If I were a Man City fan or something at the minute, I reckon I might listen to the odd bit of news here and there but ultimately, I'd know my club was being run well and just focus all my energy on the actual game. By the time it gets to the match, I am usually exhausted with the amount of fume I have gone through during the week.
Not sure what listening to fan podcasts or watching YouTube channels to achieve in making you feel better about Everton. They're all just spouting opinions. None of them actually have any insider information and they aren't agents of change. It's often wildly speculative and informed by opinion, ego and bias rather than any real knowledge. Like how some on here will tell you what's wrong at Finch Farm or what DBB does in her role.
And then there's the one's who want to make a name for themselves and dream of being the Everton equivalent of Arsenal Fan TV or that fat, bald Irish kopite who kits his mam's basement out like a Poundland Sky Sports studio and shills for YouTube money.
I've a feeling that even if the club was being ran well you'd still be finding something to be disillusioned with. There are plenty of fans of successful well ran clubs that spend all day getting angry about something to do with their club - whether it's what they're doing wrong or what other clubs are doing or how they perceive the way they're treated in the media.
The club aren't responsible for the focus you put on it or how much energy you expend on being angry or disillusioned about it. That's solely down to you. This isn't me having a go at you in particular btw, just an observation on sports fandom in general.
