Lots of speculation is rife at the moment but the Mail is meant to be reputable.

Q1: Would this shut up the Kenwright Out brigade?
Q2: Would you be happy with the players mentioned?
Q3: If these were our only signings, are you satisfied that we would be able to make a mark in the UEFA cup and consolodate/improve our position in the Premiership next year?

1) Nothing would ever shut up the Kenwright out Brigade
2) Nope, Smith is a spent force (until/unless he sign with us then normal rules apply and I always thought he was top), otherwise also I'd want to swop Koumas for Riquelme (well, who wouldn't)

No I would take him, I mean he's not the most attractive iron in the fire but I hear he can penetrate defences from time to time.
 
I'd be happy with all those, I don't think smith is a spent force, in fact I think he would be great with regular football playing in his natural striker role.

Richardson and koumas, two left wingers? spoilt for choice.

Jagielka we have been waiting for a while a now.
 
all seem to be players who will fit in to the quality of the team... but none of those names look to actually to improve the squad like arteta does.

i guess i'm saying that there is a minimum level of player skill that moyes will buy and these guys seem to be on that line. although they are necessary for the extra games we will play this season if we make it to the group stages of the uefa.

it would be something else if we got those players and then added riquelme or recoba. something else.. not being everton that is. ho hum!
 
well, Before arteta played for us, he didn't exactly grab the headlines did he?

nor cahill or lescott so... :)

To be honest I agree with teppic. We are buying players to fill in the blanks instead of players capable of bringing us to the next level. Still.... better than nothing I guess.

yeh, spot on with that, jagielka at the back, koumas and richardson for our problem left side and smith gives us that extra bite up front.

That is, IF its true of course ;)
 
Smith, Richardson, Jagielka and Koumas for £17 m.? I would take it. Considering that we are getting three England fringe players and the Welsh playmaker I would say they are good value for their reported fees.

Smith will work all day long for you and could drop into midfield if needed. Richardson IMO needs to be playing regularly in order to fullfill his talent - this guy is fast, can take on players and deliver a cross that Vic and Vaughan will relish. Jagielka is also know to throw in a few goals on his own and will continue to improve with Cars tutoring him. I have been a fan of Koumas for a few years now and I believe that he would compliment Arteta really well - his delivery of the ball is second to none.

So basically I would be happy if these deals go through.
 
Jagielka - Carsley
Richardson - VDM
Smith - Beattie

Looks to be an improvement of the squad to me, plus each of those can play in a few positions so add to the versatility of the squad. Koumas I'm not so sure about but he'd be an experienced backup who could play anywhere across the midfield.
 
Smith not keen on would just run round like BT does without actually achieving anything so no better. Koumas IMO just not good enough and I do recall him chucking all his toys away at the baggies and basically going AWOL, do we need a player like that? As for Jag, yes I can see the merit in him but Richardson well jury would still be out. However AXL had it right these signings do not set the pitch on fire, essentially we would be collecting more baggage to add to baggage.

Also if we signed them no doubt they would be demanding 1st team football so who drops out?

Per papers we are also sniffing around Wigan's LB.
